F c r This sale beg DON'T MISS THIS OPP Stro Election Notes. Three more counties have been added to the prohibition column, viz, Chester, Clarendon and Laurens, as the result of Tuesday's election. Partial returns from each of the three counties indicate the voting out of the dispensary by overwhelming majorities. Only , a few weeks ago Union county voted on the liquor question and decided to remain dry. Thus the prevailing sentiment over the State seems to be against the sale of whiskey, whether it be a "dry" county tlfet has tested prohibition or a dispeqsary county that wants to be rid of the incubus that has been fastened upon it. There is none to dispute that Taft will be the biggest president since Grover Cleveland. Kern couldn't swing Indiana into the Democratic column. Perhaps, however, Kern got tmore out of the election than anyone else concerned, in the way of free advertising. Which reminds us to ask why was Kern ever put on the ticket, any way Joseph G Cannon, whose arbitrary rulings and general "cussedness" as speaker of the national house ot representatives has been returned to congress from Illinois to run that branch of Congress tour years more. The vote at Kingstree Tues^ day was the largest ever polled fc. here in a general election. In Kichland and Lee counties there were independent candi- { dates in the held for the office j of county supervisor. In both counties the bolters were snowed under. Any how, Bryan carried his own precinct this time and it may be that he carried Nebraska. The Florence Times of November 3 says: Chief of Police Anderson of Kingstree .passed through the ^ city this morning retnrning from Darlington with a negro by the name of Amos Williams, who was arrested in Darlington on the charge of highway robbery Monday afternoon.
