.^ifcinnie Clare and Clara Yarbor- '
opg-h and Sarah Moore of Columbia.
1
Mrs B W Butler and Mrs W ]
G Gamble, assisted by Miss Es- t
ther Gordon, received at the
door. The house was beautiful- (
ly decorated with ferns and cut j
/ flowers, while the lawn was re- j
splendent with the glow of many i
colored lights, making-the scene 1
one of beauty. The guests be- j
ing assembled they were given ,
a numbered ticket which num- ]
<//,^S?r-?ht>we3Yiach one who their 1
partner should be in the weigh- j
ing contest. Mr M H Jacobs
being a skilled artist in thej,
handling- of the balances was in !
charge of this contest, and as 1
each couple was weighed their
combined weight was recorded.
At the conclusion Miss Thetis
B Stackley and K K Wallace were i
declared the winners of
the prize, a beautiful pearl :
handle fan, while Miss Minnie
Clare Yarborough and Mr W W
MB* were handed the lemon
consolation. We refrain
giving the weights of the
jHJrize winners as it is not a matter
of record. The couples were
then ushered into the spacious
parlor where they were entertained
with choice selections of
music from the skilled hands of
Misses Minnie Clare and Clara
Yarborou?jh on the piano and
violin, also Professors lirockinton
and Kpps.
Dainty refreshments w ere
served by little Misses MarqueiA
and Pauline Gordon. In the (
jfefreshments the color for the
ev^nin<f, lemon, was seen. The
couples were then ushered to
_ the western piazza which was
brilliantly lighted with many
Jan;,np?p lanterns and there
under the boughs of the stately
lemon tree plucked from its
leaves a card telling- them of
the mysterious things of the future.
The couples then adjourned
to cool and quiet nooks to
work out their destinies which
they had plucked from the tree
of fortune, and woe to hi in lor
P whom Dan Cupid had a lemon
i^^ore.
In the midst of our merrymaking
a sound is heard that chills
our hearts. It is . the Curfew
bells ringing the hour of midnight,
which warns us that the
hour of parting has arrived.
Bidding our kind hostess and
her guests a happy good night
we wend our way homeward to
dream of those things that might
have been, if Curfew had not
rang that night.

KEEP THE KIDNEYS WELL.
Health Is Worth Sarin?, and
SoneKlngstree People Know
How to Save It.
Many Kingstree people take their j
lives in their hands by neglecting ,
the kidneys when they know these'
organs need help. Sick kidneys ;
are responsible for a vast amount of \
suffering and ill health, but there is
no need to suffer nor to remain in j<
danger when all diseases and aches J
itul pain due to weak kidneys can '
be quicklv and perniantly cured j
by the use of Doan's Kidney
Pills. Here is a Kingstree citizen's;
recommendation.
Mrs W H Carr, E Main Street, !
Kiugstree, S ( says: "My mother (
speaks very highly of Doan's Kidney <
['ills, having used them with the
best results. She suffered a great
leal from backache and distressing |
pains across h?r loins and kidney;
egious. The remedies she used did
aot seem to help her much and lately ]
while she was visiting me, I procured
a box of Doan's Kdney Pills
for her at Scott's drug store. She *
used them as directed and they gave 1
ber more relief than anything she,
bad ever tried. Since then she has I i
bad uo pain of any sort and her11 ]
kidneys have also Ueu strengthened. 1

Sour
Stomach
No appetite, loss of strength, nervou*
ness, headache, constipation, bad breath, i I
general debility, sour risings, and catarrh
of the stomach are all due to indigestion.
Kodol relieves indigestion. This new discov? ! |
ery represents the natural juices of diges*
tion as they exist in a healthy stomach,
combined with the greatest known tonio (
and reconstructive properties. Kodol for
dyspepsia does not only relieve indigestion
and dyspepsia, but this famous remedy |
helps all stomach troubles by cleansing,
purifying, sweetening and strengthening
the mucous membranes lining the stomach.
Mr. S. S. Ball, cf Ravenswood. W, Va.. says: [ I
" 1 was troubled with sour stomach for twenty years.
Kodol cured me and we are now using it In milk
for baby."

above power; that justice may suf- j,
