sprh lb CADET LIFE AT GLEMSON. i 1H Tefa Eiaaliatloas 8ov The Boys Spend Their Time, Etc. ClemsonCollege, March 23: The much dreaded week of ex - J n animations is over ana we are an again down at our regular work. To some of us our examinations 1 have been a crisis in our school life, while to others they have 1 been only a hard place.Notwithstanding the fact they have 1 caused unusual hard work, they ' have been of great value to us j all and an incentive to each one to strive either to continue his " ~<k?d record or to elevate his low one. J With the beginning of the third term's work much inter- c est is being taken in athletics. _ i t a: _r Aiicuuurux rcLTcduua every arternoon is devoted to either J track work or base ball practice. NThe new coach arrived a 1 few days ago and is yery much . pleased with the condition of 1 the team. We hope to make a better record this year than we did lastyear in both the baseball games and the track meets, r Last Wednesday being Cal- C houn's birth-day, was given as a J holiday. This is the first day c we hive had since Christ- (j ;-?cas. The junior class contrib- ti -?ted much pleasure to the morn- 2 < hrg.part of the day by playing ^ -*a game of base-ball. The after- JJ, t Hioon was devoted to the regu- n <lar track and baseball practice, w .The board of trustees, among & whom was Senator Tillman, ^ spent tne day on toe campus and gave some of their valuable time to the encouragement of athletx ics. ? ia,3 been a frequent vis- gg itor aiiibng the faculty and offi- la cers of the college since las Sep- ? tember. We have lost some of JJj our jnost beloved teachers and ^ officers. The first to pass away m vis Prof P T Brodie last fall, uj i Then, while we were enjoying \ the Christmas holidays, Prof. ^ Shiyer was taken away only a few days ago, March 15, p we were snoctteu uy mc ouuu^u death of the bookkeeper in the treasurer's office, Mr Hard. The lives of these men have been t] noble and pure and have wield- c< ed a great influence for good in b the lives of the cadets. Every a .student feels that it will be no easy task for the men who are a to till the vacant chairs to con- t tinue the work as it has been * going. Last Friday night the literary f societies broke the monotony of t constant school life by a contest ? for the purpose of selecting a speaker to represent Clenison at the Inter-State Collegiate Or- ' -atorical contest at Greenwood. , l?r T C Heyward, of the Cal- j fcoun Literary societ}', was I ckosen. His subject is "The Spirit of the Age." Clem- I / sou came out third last year, but she hopes to win the medal this time. The cadets are taking much interest in the military exercises now, preparing for the annual inspection, which will take place .about the tirst of April. It has been rumored that Capt. Minus is going to take the corps on an encampment trip soon after the inspection. Clemson students seem to be WKT3 BTO Mevo I m HERE tnuch in favor at Anapolis this year. Four young men have been awarded scholarships j there within the past month. These boys have left many warm < friends at ('lemson. Lots have been purchased for 1 the erection of two new church- , es on the campus. These church- , es are very much needed and it \ is the desire of every one con- 1 nected with the college to see ' them completed at an early iate. Mr Graves, the Methoiist preacher who has been c sent here to take charge of the I uuilding of the Methodist church, states that he is going to have the work begun soon. This y neans that the cadets will soon | >e allowed to go to the church >f their choice instead of going it i i omecnapei. Dear Sirs I have suffered more than 1 twenty years from indigestion. About eighteen months ago I had J grown so much worse that I could 1 not digest a crust of corn bread and 1 could not retain anything on my stomach. I lost 25 lbs.; in fact I made up my mind that I could not live but a short time, ivhen a friend of miue recommended Kodol. I consented to try it to please him and I was better in one day. I now ' weigh more than I ever did in my . life and am in better health than for ' many years. Kodol did it. I keep . a bottle constantly, and write this hoping that humanity will be benefited.
