WOFFORD COLLEGE NOTES. 1 Students Mourn Bishop Duncan's i Death?Other Items. 5 Spartanburg, March 5:?For r some time now the news from Wof ford College has be?.n absent from |! your columns, but to remind you of f- the fact that we are still an exis2; tance up here in the hills 1 will take 1; up my spare time in giving you a 1' few items of pews. - \ The mere fact that some one of j the boys from Williamsburg have 0 ! notsent in the items of news from 1 ; the campus is sufficient proof that e1 we have been kept busy. Yes, we * have certainly covered much ground t since the Christmas holidays. As ~ to how much of it we have stored y away in our minds will be brought r out in the next two weeks by the ex!) animations that are now upon us. ? Once we have passed the "March d Exam's," we consider our year's i work near the* close. But the coni solatioti of having passed is the best J of all. College woik was suspended two * days this week on account of the h death of Biihop Duncan. We all ? regret that the Bishop has been takV eu from us. The students had the highest respect for him and when g' we look back over his noble life and 'S I rf.3ee what he has doon for Woiford ?tjand the upbuilding of Christianity j ; we are constrained to grieve over hie j loss. I feel sure that I am right ^ when I sav that he did more for it! Wofford than perhaps any one other man has yet done. For many years | he was an instructor in the college, I? but after he gave up that position >, he did not lose interest in the collc^v, but worked all the nio-e for trying to secure an endowment !" fund. Thestudetrs paid their tn> it buie to him by attending his fn:i? r1 al in a bodv.
