I here are now on our books nearly 2,000 subscribers, many of -whom have paid nothing in a year or longer. We ask all these de- , linquents to settle up as soon as possible. Mr SB W Courtney of Single spent several days here this week with his family. Miss Mart Marks of Colombia . passed through town Tuesday going to Workman, S. C., to take a position as principal of the school at that^lace. Re?. T. J. Clyde requests us to state that he has just closed a very successful meeting at Johnsonville church in which he was assisted by Rev. J. E. Mahaffey of Kingstree. Notwithstanding it was a busy time the attendance was good, the mem bership revived and 55 joined the church. We thank our good friend, Capt. Frank M. Nesmith of Bensou, for a nice lot of aweet potatoes and turnip?. "Capt. Frauk" told ua that those vegetables were not full grown, being backward by reason of the dry -weather. Well, they are big enough for us, and aa our Lake City correspondent puts it, if we just had a nice fat 'possum to go with "them "taters"we would be heeled. Mr D J Snowden was in the city last night returning to Delmar, Delaware, where he is now located. Mr. Snowden is an engineer of one of the largest railroad systems up JNortn and has been spending a month at his old home near Beusoa recuperating from a spell of typhoid feyer. He is well known in Florence, haying lived here several years attending school and his many friends will J be glad to learn of his success as an ( engineer.?Irenes Timet, Oct. 29. i ^ J i' / I M m On Friday evening, November 8, the members of the ninth and tenth grades of the Kingstree Graded sciiool will give a hot supper at the Farmer's Supply Cos' hall for the purpose of raising a fund with which to buy a piano for the new school auditorium. The public is cordially invited. We are still apologizing, however much it may bore some of our subscribers. Miss Martha Gordon, who recently completed a course at the NlcFeat Business College, Columbia, has taken a position as stenographer and typewriter in Messrs Lee & Askins' law office, ? leatktfi Chili Died, at her home in town on ! Tuesday morning October the 29th at 7 o'clock,little Wylodine, laughter of the foreman of Thi &BCORD office, Mr. J-^W Cargile. Wylodine bad been sick bnt a few days and her little lite went out before it was generally known that she was seriously ill. Tne tuneral services took place 011 Wednesday morning- at the Riverside cemetery in the presence of a number of friends, including the teachers and pupils of the first grade of the graded schoool, of which grade 6be was a member. Little Wylodine was a bright child and only six years old, the pet and darling of the house-hold. This beautiful life so fraught with blessing to her parents has gone out and in sympathy we can only repeat the words of Rev. J. E. Mahaffey, the officiating minister, who in the exequies quoted the immortal words of ourSaviour: "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Death at lr. Z, T. Eaddy. Mr. Z. T. Eaddy was stricken with paralysis last week and died at his home near Venters on Wednesday, October 23. The fnneral services were held at Johnsonville on Thursday, the 24th, Revs. J. E. Mahaffey aud T. J. Clyde being the oflficiating ministers. Mr Eaddy was abont sixty years old and leaves a wife and a n amber of children. He was a consistent member of the Methodist charch and a beloved brother in the Pythan order. Mr. Eaddy had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and his death is morned by every one that knew him. He was a man who had the respect and esteem of every - ?1 ?1 L- J one wiiq wnum nr assocutieu ?nu in his neighborhood he was generaly beloved. He will be missed in the county, the community, the church, but in the home circle his loss will be keenest felt, as he was a devoted husband, a kind father and a good ueighbor. His funeral was one of the largest ever held at Johnsonville 3hurcb, there being present, it is estimated, over 600 people.
