WALLACE (ONES Jr., Cathaer. . .-TVt-rr^ ^TTTTTT^ "-^TT; V "" y YOL XXI KINGSTREE, SOUTH CAROLINA, OCTOBER 10, 1907. NO. 40 ' LAKE CUT LOCALS. ffirairapbs el Perttieat literal Briefly Chronicled. Mr. W. E. Howell of Charleston was here Thursday night and Friday of last week on a trip of business and pleasure combined. Mr. C. H. Thomas ot Florence spent Saturday and Sunday in town. Quite unexpectedly Mr. J. W. . Cockfield sold out his goods in a few hours recently and went out K of business. Mr Mr. Winslow Wright, the un|Bchallenged leader of both the ^^mercantile and financial busiV nesses ot Scranton, was noted here one day last week. Mr. Wright's career is one of the best examples we know of what can be accomplished by the energy, thrift and unswerving integrity of a poor man. Beginning with nothing except the qualities above mentioned he has, in spite of poverty and poor health, won a place in the ^ hall of success and a member* ship in that society where character is rated as a valuable I asset. Mr. Martin L. Severance, long time of Lake City and still partly of the same, was married to Miss Maggie Whitaker of Milledge ville, Ga., on the afternoon of the 30tb ultimo, at 6 o'clock. The ceremony took place at Blakeley. Ga., where the bride was teaching. Kev. W. R. Langston, the Methodist minis, ter made them one at the parsonage. The couple went to the bride's home where they spent a day, after which they, k of course, came to Lake City. ? Hence they went to Rocky Mount, N. C., where they will I make their home. H I Am so "Billy Martin" is mar ried! Well, well, we remember when he wasn't knee high to a grasshopper and couldn't spell "Constantinople" to save his ^life. All we have to say is this; l^lf this t4Cracker" is worthy of Martin Severance, she is a good t one. That's all. Mr. H. H.
