Due West, August 15:?The first church wedding of the summer was solemnized at the Associate Reformed Presbyter* iin . V?iiT*/~h i/?s.tv morniny I VltUIVU J . J O when Miss Luna H Tribble, of this village, was married to Mr Paul 0 Arrowsmith, of Kingstree, S (J. the ceremony being performed by the Rev 0 Y Bonner, of Due West. A few minutes after 10 o'clock the first notes of Lohengrin's wedding march were sounded, the music being rendered by Mrs 0 Y Bonner. Two of the ushers, Messrs L F Rhem, of Rhem's, and J Frank Epps, of Due West, marched up the aisle and took position ou the rostrum and were joined by the bridal party, which came from the pastor's study which* adjoins the pulpit. The best man was Mr WS Giiland, of Kingstree, and the dame of honor, Mrs Mell W Suber. The ceremony was performed by the Rev 0 Y Bonner and was simple and impressive. The bride was attired in a handsome eton suit of gold /*1 ATTAO K 1 f UlUWU tai-cua. mwu ^nuw and veil to match. She carried bride's roses and maiden hair fern. Immediately after the ceremony the couple went to Donald's and boarded the train for the Jamestown exposition and points North. Mr and Mrs Arrowsmith will remain in the North about two weeks and in the future will reside at Kingstree, where the groom is engaged in a lucrative business. The bride is well and favorably known in this community and is a graduate of the Female college at this place and also of Erskine. She is a daughter of Mr and Mrs J C Tribble, of this place, and is a young lady jjbf many accomplishments. She has been engaged in teaching at Kingstree during the past year and has many acquaintances in that town. Many friends and acquaintances attended the wedding^ yesterday and their comfort was looked after by the ushers, Messrs R E Nickles, J F Epps and L F Rhem.?News and Courier. Jr BASE BALL GA108L Doable-Header Played at lorrtsrlltd Saturday. Dock, August 19:?To the base ball lovers Saturday was a red letter day. Two games were played on the local diamond, one in the morning with (Jhoppee and one in the afternoon with Pee Dee. Suffice to say the Morrisville boys can hold their own with the "Pee's and Dee's." The first game commenced about 9 o'clock between Choppee and Morrisville. It will be remembered that a game between these two teams was played several days ago, in which Choppee came out slightly in the lead. * And so when the boys went out on the ground Saturday both sides wore a determined look and both sides played well. After a bard and interesting game the score stood even, neither side would give in; so another inning was played to decide it, and then every one gathered around and held their breath while this deciding inning was played. (Jboppee went to the bat and scored three times, then the home boys grasped the stick and scored / " twice, and then to make it closer a third runner crossed the home plate just as a ball was knocked, but the visitors caught the fly, and owing to ball rules the score was not counted. But in realitj it was nothing more or less than a tie game between Choppee and Morrisviile. It was now about 12 o'clock and the good ladies present invited the boys to a nice dinner out "in the shadow of the pines," where the inner man came in for his share of the day's pleasure. About 2 o'clock the second game was called between Pee Dee and Morrisville, but oh, myl Pee Dee was no match at all for * ; ! our boys, even if they did play at a disadvantage. Brockinton, our catcher, had one of his fingers badly hurt in the morning game, and Cooper had two "fat fingers," the result of the morning game;while our good friend, Hugh Altman, was suffering with indigestion from too much dinner. But, with ail that, af- V ter Pee Dee had played nine indings and Morrisville only eight, the score was in favqr of Morrisville. Oh! Pee Dee, "go way back and sit down" until you get stronger. AH of our boys played well, but we must especially compliment Worten on his splendid field work. It was simply fine. And too much praise cannot be given to Altraan, our "baby pitcher," as the visitors are pleased to call him. All we have to say is if he can pitch will.he is a' Alnlv '"*i\ V'- - t. .
