On Saturday evening-, Decemk ber 3, two daughters of Mr T C ; Poston of the Bloomingvale section, Mrs Cox and Miss Ann Eliza Poston, were returning home from Kingstree in compa- i } ny with Mr Poston and his son, 1 Ben, who were driving ahead in a road cart, when a negro came I up behind in a top buggy driving > at a furious speed, being evi, dently intoxicated, as he ran - into the vehicle occupied by the ladies, breaking a wheel and throwing both the occupants from their buggy, all the while cursing and using insulting lanI guage. Mr Poston, a few yards ahead, shouted to the drunken desperado telling him to turn } out of the road, when the negro ^ cursed him and fired twice at 1 him with a pistol, the bullets narrowly missing- Mr Poston and his son. Mr G Ollie Epps at the railroad crossing has his store well* stocked with fresh new goods. Affable and courteous in manner his friends are legion and already he has gained many permanent customers. The Kingstree Bakery has lisplayed a tempting array of sdible dainties that cannot fail to promote good cheer at the [estive board during the merry yuletide. The Bank of Kingstree offers the most popular book of the season?a bank book. H D Reddick's mammoth emporium presents an attractive appearance with its tastefully iecorated windows and well filled shelves. His is nearly a iepartment store and he is prepared to supply all that one needs in life or to make life worth living* in the way of comfort and convenience. J S Eron has been in business here but a few months but he sells the goods and he attributes much of his patronage to his liberal investment in printer*' ink. His large stock of clothing dry goods, dress goods etc, must go, he says, and all be asks is the opportunity to quote prices. In the new "sky scraper" Mr S Marcus is better than ever prepared to serve his customers. In addition to his stock of staple goods he offers a choice array of Christmas novelties that must be seen to be appreciated.
