Frank Blade, the Example, James Mnnnerlvn. V t Airs Morgan, the Drunkard's Wife, Miss Nita Muunerlyn. Mary Morgan, the Drunkard's Child, Daisy Belle Muunerlyn. Mehitable Cartwright, a Yankee Girl, Miss Lorena Barnes. Mrs Blade, the Landlord's Wife, Miss Lucie Hemingway. Tk parts were all excellently rendered and it was with genuine re gret that the audience saw the curtain fall on the last act. The wait between ihe acts usually so tedious in amateur performances was pleasantly hegu\ed by beautiful music reudered by Mr and Mrs Jennings and Mr and Mrs Covington. The play throughout was intensely j realistic and pointed the moral of the! awful consequences of strong drink.; After the main performance there! were still some good things in stole for the audi-nee. Little Miss Ltd a' Johnson, only about 12 years old, j sang in a sweet, clear voice several j popular "rag-tiuie" melodies, which ; called forth viciferoils applause from . the wli.de house. Then Mr Aller-' I son, who is a natural comedian,! came out mule up as a young buck ' negro and gave a fine song and dance exhibition. His repertory included, ; "Go 'Way Back and Sit Down", j "Don't Care If I Never Wake Up", ' etc., fill of which were greeted with j enthusiastic expressions of approval, j The next number was some more /"coon songs" by Mr Jennings, who also personated a darkey minstrel! and made a decided hit. Last, but bv no means least, came i _ j Messrs Jennings, Covington and i Allerson, dressed up as "Nigger"! dudes, who sang and danced and performed merry antics both amusing , and entertaining. Finally Mr Al-j lei son with a graceful and appro-' priate little speech of thanks dis-1 missed the audience. The pro- j ceeds of the entertainment amounted to the nice little sum of $94.54, which goes to Union Graded School. Thus ended a pleasant evening, which will long linger in the minds of the well pleased spectators. Whets j the sad sweet strains of "Home, Sweet Home" floated out upon the j beauteaus night we bade each other j adieu and went our respective ways, feeling that it was well to have witnessed "Ten Nights in a Bar Room". We left Kingstree, S. C'., on April J 3 and reached this point April 8. Our trip was indeed a very pleasant! one all the way through. The last j day and night we were on the road we could see nothing but mountains, j valleys and rivers, wild dogs audi animals of various species. The! rivers were all dry; no green herbs j oi trees could lie seen save when! they had been iriigated. Xb rain I has fallen in this county in nearly! eight months and when rain does : fall it is tiucli a small quantity | that an Eastern man would j not call it rain. They have no dewhere at all nor fogs. Neither do we have any cloudy weather; but we do have a continuous breeze and per-; petual sunshine?just floods of sum- ' -i--'-- ??i.... i..... We also ln ve' beautiful moonlight nights. 1 have' closely investigated the entire Southwest with a view of locating at the very best place with all round advantages and I Voice the sentiment of thousauds when I say that El Paso offers the Very best all around advantages for the health-seeker. Hundreds are in El Paso to day cured of asthma, who have tried Colorado, Ar- j izona, Xew Mexico, 'California and had to come to El Paso to get well, and it is the same case with consumption. The latitude, longitude, j altitudeand small percentage of humidity of El Paso make it an ideal place for health; ulth nigh I am fa vorably impressed with Santa Fe, | Xew Mexico, and would have gone | there could my wife have stood the! altitude.
