Measles has made its appearance in town. Master Earl Sauls of this place has been appointed agent for the Laurens Steam Laundry. Earl is an energetic youth aud is pushing his work with a vim. Mr W B Gregory of Savannah, Ga.f who has been night operator at this place for some time, has returned to h;s home. Mr Thomas of the Camp Branch section, was here Sunday as the gnest of Miss Mabel Buzhardt. W M Smith has been indisposed for the past week, but at this time is somewhat better. While great questions of industry are being discussed what's the matter with a branch railroad lending from this point through the Indiantown and Johnsonville sections. Such an enterprise, would undoubtedly pay tine dividends to the promoters, besides openirg up a rich truck-growing countiy to the markets of the world. We should like to see this matter agitated. Mr C G C'arsten, one of our ex-' tensive truck-planters, is experi-. menting with a new kind of bean. One that has been reeommeuded to | him as a high class bean that will I come up to a better stand and yield twice as much rs the ordinary variety. The cost of the seed, Mr Carsten says, is $16 a bushel, but he bought only a small quantity to try them. We regret to report the death of Mr A J Tomlinson, which occurred last Wednesday at noon a few miles from here. He had been sick but a few days, but his malady was o such a nature as to baffle the best medical skill that tould be obtained. The deceased came here several years ago from Florence county and commenced a mercantile business, but later on he turned his attention to t farming, in which pursuit he was engaged at his death. The remains were taken to Beulah church iu Florence county for interment. His wife, one child and a brother are his immediate sorrowing relatives.
