Miss Bertha Epps.
. On We' nesday afternoon, December
23, at 6:30 o'clock, at the
residence of the bride's parents, Mr
and Mrs James Epps, near town,
Miss Bertha Epps was united in the
boly bonds of wedlock to Rev Ethan
Zula James. The bride is the eldest
daughter of Mr Jam?* Epps and

js a young May or many auracuous
of mind and person. The groom
is a well known aud popular young
member of the Methodist Conference.
The ceremony was performed by
Ber W Smith Martin of Jonnsfcon,
assisted by Rev Henry Cauthen.
Mr and Mrs James left on the
evening train for their home at
Belmont, Spartanburg county, to
which charge the former was assigned
at the reoent session of the
Conference.

1 Died:?On Wednesday morning,
December 23, 1903, Mr S L McConnell
at his home near Taft, after a
short illness. Mr McConne'l Was
79 years old and leaves a wife and
seven children to monrn his loss.
He was a brave soldier, a member of
Co K, 10th S C V. His remains
will be interred at the Miller
> burying ground this morning at 11
o'clock.
