Pa., whence I was released at tin close of the war. 1 went Imck tc New Orleans and mariied there, but my health failed and the doctors advised me to go to Galveston. I took their advice and recovered mv health. My occupation here for ten year* has been manager of an electric cat line. I raised my whole family here in Galveston. Have three child) en married and live grand children living. I have only one living brother, L E Burkett of Williamsburg. 1 expect, D. The County Board of Education of e^ch county la requested to conduct thhi examination at the same time with the entrance and other scholarship examinations of the Smith Carolina Colleee and of Wlnthrop College (which this year will be on Friday, July 10th). The County Board will receive the questions from the President of the College, and la requested to return the answers to him, at Columbia, forthwith, by mall or express. 4. A standing Committee on Scbolar' ships, appointed from the Board, in conJunction with a standing Committee from the Faculty, shall select the scholarship students for each county upon the results of the examinations reported by the Faculty Committee, and all the other information submitted. The proper announcements shall be made through the President. 5. After the first year the incumbent may be reappointed, provided that, in the Judgment of the Faculty, his aptness to teach, his progress in study. and his general character indicate that be is a suitable person to fulfill the purpose of the scholarship as provided for by the General Assembly.
