) ? a# FROM A FEMININE VIEWPOINT Showing How Unreasonable Men are in What They expect of Women. Editor *^onrity Record:? Well, Mr E lilor, I wish In make a lew observations upon a subject with which almost even one i* familiar. I have seen so much in papeis about the ladies ?in nearly every paper you pick up you will find something aboul ni. ' ?and what is said hard ly ever does lliem any credit at ail. Some time a so I saw il slated that when a man kisses a sir' with freckles on her face, the freckles don't taste near so good as they Iook. Now I should like to ask how does it la>le to kiss a man with freckle.-? (Sorry we .can't inform you?Ed.) The niei, seem to lake a delight in carping about women. Von go to church and even the preacher gives them "Hail Columbia" about cooKing on dunuav or even grinding coffee on the Sabbath. 1 heard one say last year that a lady on his place would fry white side meat and bake corn bread [ jon Sainrdav even ins: for Sundav. jn/ That is all right, but he wa< kind HP enough to tell us that the lady was a widow. Any of us could m do that and would really prefer' K it to cooking on Sunday, if the I men would not find fault and complain that the bread is too hard or the meat is too cold. If V the men had the cooking to do I r am afraid the women would be so L near starved that they would be scarcely be able to go. Yet these Mords of creation" think it ? * I. ... O i... M an awtui sin 10 cook on ounuav. I Suppose you cook a lot of vegm elables on Saturday and keep I them for Sunday's dinner, it is t very likely they will spoil this warm wia'her. And even if they did no*, how are we to know how many people will come home with us from church? Why only a lew Sundays ago a lady prepared dinner for her family, without expecting company; but when the dinner hour arrived there were ten visitors besides nine members ot the family. The men do not think anything of shaving themselves or greasing their buggies 011 Sunday and 1 _ should like some one to tell us which is the greater sin, to cook oil Sunday or to grease buggies? I'KPPSR. Leo, S, C., June 8, FOR HISTORY'S SAKE. Meeting to Organize Pee uee society Called In Florence. Refreshing Hains Fall?An Enjoyable Picnic?Remedy Wanted tor a Tobacco Pe?t. .Moizon, June 8 ?Crop? around Alouzoiis ate small but improving wonderlullv since the rain. We had been having some light showers last week up to Saturday, when there came one of th? heaviest rain-falls I have evet leen. The old saving, UI wi.-h it would rain!*' has passed Irom tin mouths of our people. 1 Itopt that equally refreshing rains have vi.?ited every locality where they were needcJ. There was a very pleasant and enjoyable picnic at Mrs Scotli* Cons!ilie's old place on Saturday The picnic was given to the pupils of Miss Minnie Burgess' school, which had closed a week before. The picnic was put off on accoon' of communion services at Bethel church. All who attended seemed to have a splendid time. Messrs Needham and John Williamson of Cades were visiting in this section Saturday and Sunday. It seems that there is something to attract the young men here and doubtless thev will come again soon. Hope they will steer clear ol slumps on their next trip. Mr Editor, I should like (or some of your readers who are experienced in the culture of tobacco to suggest a remedy for that little pest, the 4,flea bug." We have it on our lobacco. Will paris green destioy it? If not, what will? It is very damaging to tobacco.* I hope some one has found a remedy and will make it known to the public. Much success to you and your paper. "Noddy."
