Florence Saturday on business in connection with his father's estate, of which he is executor. Mr WH Wells and Hon J W Ragsdale, of the Florence bar spent Tuesday in town on business in magistrate court. A preliminary examination in the case of the State ' IB Mack Sauls, rescuing contraband liquor from an officer, was held. The prosecution was represented by Mr Wells and the defense by Mrj RagBdale. The magistrate did not consider the evidence sufficient to i warrant the sending of the case to, the General Sessions, and hence dis mi sued the action. The potatoes in Mr W II Gaskin's patch were, this year, neitner smuii potatoes nor few in the hill, He made several hundred bushels to the acne?exactly -how many he dot's not know, but he is quite certain that the yield was almost phenomenal. Mr David Coker's store, which is on his plantatation in the Hebron section, was broken into a few nights ago and his cash box stolen. Mr C R Hastings, of Spartanburg, orgAchzed a council of the National Union here on Wednesday nighr. The council has about twenty two members already. It is an insurance ociety. The congregations of the Hebron and St Johns Methodist churches ' are getting ready to build houses of worship. The new building at Hebron will be of a modern design and will cost about $2000.
