For Railroad Commissioner. (Frrr: Ktt.rti? id News aiul Herald oi May 7, 02.) Kditor News and Herald: The < Wee of Railroad Commissioner is one of irreat tesponsiMiitv and it is highly important that it be filled with the richt man. A Railroad Commissioner ^ i?.!./? nf n iivmtil and liberal mind, trained in business grooves, whetted arid sharpened by irietion with everv-dav business transactions. He should be ;i man of sufficient moral courage to enforce his views in the interest of public safety as well us public welfare, and at the same time not ignore the just intere>ts of railroad corporations. lie should have had a measure of success in the conduct of his own business before entering on the heavy du ties connected with this office. A man who meets a!! these requirements 1? Hon. Jno G. W'olI.uj:. whose candidacy foi Railroad Commissioner we must heartily endorse. Mr. W'ollinjr is now in the prime of life. He is one ot the county's largest and most successful farmers. He is a putrlio spirited man; as is shown hv. his interest in the school of his cominanity, the session of which has often been extended by his ccktribut ions. He is derservedlv t oLular i:i his own community. having received 149 out of the 150 voles cast at his home box in 1900. He is slso very popular in the county, having twice headed the ticket for the 11 orise of Representatives. lhen, too, Mr. Woliing has had seven years experience in practical railroading, having been i Machinist by trade, serving in the c.apasitv of a locomotive en% iiineer. In asking you to support him. we feel sure that wherever he may be he will be found to be a man of the highest type of Christian character, whose reputation is unsullied, whose ability is unquestioned, and whose peculiar fitness tor the office he seeks is recognized by tnanv, many citizens of FAIRFIELD COUNTY. A Card from Mr. Watt. Editor County Record:? It has oeen brought to my attention that the impression pre vails iti some localities mat i am opposed to stock law exemptions. Now, I am at a loss to understand how such an impression could have trained credence, as I have , at every campaign meeting en* ?deavored to state in plain language my position on this question. I have repeatedly said that if the people want these ex eruptions tliev should have them, and if elected 1 shall do inv best to see that their wishes are car ried out. Very respectfully, P. S. Wall.
