That it shall not be lawful to build, ?rect or construct, or in any wise Elace any building framed of wood, or aring more wood on the outside of the building other than required for door and window frames, doors, shutters, *ash?*. porticos and piazzas, shall be deemed a wooden building and subject to all the penalties hereinafter prescribed, "except such buildings as shall have the sanction and approval of Council before the same shall be commenced," to wit: All that territory. commencing from the railroad crossing, on Main street, and extending to .Jail street, and embracing all of the lots on both sides of the street, represented on town map as Main street; also on Academy street between Railroad and Porier street*, on both sides of the same; also all that block upon which the Court House stands, bounded North by Main street, West by Jail street. South by unnamed-street, intersecting Jailand Acadeiur streets and East by Academy street. Provided, That all lots on North side of unnamed street, running from Jail street to Academy street, also all lots not bounded on Main street, between Acndemy street and the railroad, be exempted from thi building limits 2. Any building framed of wood, or j having more wood on the outside of I the building, than that required for door and window frames, doors or shuttors, sashes, porticos and piazzas shall be deemed a wooden building, subjectt to the penalties hereinafter prescribed; and the roof of every bufiding and every piazza and portico shall be covered with some material not combustible, otherwise they shall be deemed each to be a wooden building and subject to the penalties hereinafter prescribed for the erection of wooden buildings. ' 3. Any person or persons who shall erect any buildings contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance, on any of the lots or territory described in the first section of this Ordinance upon proof to conviction, shall be fined in the sum of Fifty ($50 0d) Dollais to be recovered before the Intendant's court. 4. That every De-son who shall be employed in the building or construction of any building contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance shall, on conviction thereof before the Inlendant's court, forfeit and pay to the Town the sum of Five ($5.00) Dollars per day for each and every day Ue rna y be so employed. 5. That whenever hereafter any building already erected, snaii t*> roofed or covered as new buildings aro hereby directed to be provided upon, written application describing the erection, alteration or improvement, or repairs desired, and for good cause shown, Council may allow such buildings, repairs, etc.. in accordance with the original construction of said buildlug. ti. It shall not be lawful to build or construct, or cause to be built or constructed, auy chimney in any frame or wooden building within the Town of Kingstree. S. C., unless such chimney shall be commenced from the foundation of the said frame or wooden building, and be constructed of brick or stone, and thr said chimney, whether In wooden, frame, brick or stone buildings, shall rise at least two feet above the ridge or highest part of the roof of the said building out of which it projects. 7.
