We are always plad to see him. Hr wiItinm<; ??d Mr.John M. Kennedy look a party of fruit drummers up 1o Hudson mill one night last week to a fish fry. It was a somewhat novel trip for the strangers and one which they thoroughly enjoyed. They were made acquainted with a lot of delicious bream, perch, trout and ' Zske.'' The latter is a match lor all comers. We had two or three delightful showers last week. They came in a very opportune time, in good quantity ami benefited all crops. Straw berries have been much improved. Tobacco plants ihat "were out were saved and a good opportunity was made for tho<e who had not transplanted, to do so. So far the seasons this year Lave been all that reasonable men -could desire. Mrs Lillis Calder, of Florence, has been visiting among relatives and friends in our town, Mr. M. J. Young, of Call, Fla., was in town several days recently, i He is a native of Georgia and had never been in this section of our State before except* when passing through on his way North. The substance known as 'Death Dust" is effective in destroying the bugs and is harmless <o person?. The berry season has not reached its height yet, but it is beginning to make things hum. Express shipments are going off hv the car load and refrigerators art taking the freight cargoes. Wt Lave had as many as four of the ice cars here at once. Last seasor we sent off as many as six refrigerators in one day, and we art rapidly nearing that number thii ?easou. William Roof, pastor of 1 I Cedar Swamp Methodist church, was at his post last Sunday morn- * ing at 11 o'clock. The service consisted of the reading of the rules of the church a* laid down 1 m the Discipline and commenting ' on the most important thereof. The pastor announced that at his next regular appointment he would hold communion services if the elements were prepared. He also announced that hereafter he would preach here on fifth Sun U'J,Y#S. Both Sunday-schools at Behson are now organized, but unfortunately the services contlict, as they meet Sunday afternoons at the | same hour. An attempt is being> made, however, to change the)' i * i time of meeting of one or the other in order that they may work jin harmony. It is quite probable j that this will be done shortly ! when we shall probably have a ' ! 1 ucer attendance at botli Sundayj Schools. Mr. W. D Snowden and Master Robert, Mr. J. S. McCnllongh and family and Mrs. Annie Brockinton have returned trom a short visit to the exposition. All are highly pleased with the trip. Mr. W. E. Snowden, of'Choppee, spent last Saturday and Sunday at home. Rain is very much needed at present. Cotton is coming up i very irregularly and a good rain would be ol great benefit. Williamson's, given by the pupils of Miss Wilia McMichael, I he accomplished principal of the school in that neighborhood. The rendition of the programme was plendid, showing beyond the diadow of a doubt that Miss McMichael spared no pains in the training of those who took part in the exercises. Dorrell, a blinr! minister ol Georgetown, preached in ihe Baptist church here Sunday morning nnd afternoon. The church was crowded tit both services. While driving home from Georgetown last Friday night, Mr. Cash Epps had the misfortune to lose the horse which he was driving. I understand that the horse dropped dead while attached to the buggy. Hinnant has shut down his grist mill and will not grind any more until his engine is repaired. /'Personne".
