Mr. A. W. Flagler called in to see
us Monday. Mr. Flagler has a
war record equalled only by hisreputation
in time of peace as a
quiet, thrifty and high toned Christian
gentleman.

Coast Artillery, U. 6. A., now
stationed on Sullivatrs Island, is
home on furlough. Mr. McClary,
who is a Williamsburg boy, has
served 2S monihs in the army;
his term of enlistuieut will expire
October 26th next.
On Thursday afternoon of last
week Mrs. Ellen Haddock, who
lives about four miles east of Indiantown
postoffice, lost her dwelling
and kitchen and most of their

Ihe household furniture was saved;
It is thought that the lire was
caused by sparks from the kitchen
store. We understand that
the property destroyed was a total
loss, there being no insurance.
Mr. Henry P. Williams, of the
Carolina Savings Bank, Charleston,
who is also a director ot the
Bank of Kingstree, came up Saturday
and attended a directors'
meeting of the latter bank. This
is Mr. Williams' first visit here
since Ihe bank was established.
He is well pleased with the building
and its equipment and much
gratified at the patronage the
bank has already received and
tne constantly increasing volume
of business that the books show.

court in Manning several days
last week.
Our genial friend, Mr. A. B.
Kanarek, a prominent merchant
at Trio and Gonrdins, called to see
us Tuesday and renewed his subscription
to The Record.
Last Tuesday a lar<re number
of visitors to the exposition, taking
advantage of the cheap rate,
nassed iiere on the morning train.
There were eleven passenger
coaches and the crowd ot passengers
aboard was estimated at 500.
Mr. G. D. Barr, of Greenville,
a kinsman of CoJ. George S. Barr,
is a guest ot I3arr's Hotel. Mr.
Barr, who was raised at Indiantown
in this county, left here at
the age of IS years, and since that
time lias resided in the up country.
He has a number of relatives
in Williamsburg who, of course,
are delighted to welcome him
back to his old home.
The Atlantic Coast Line railroad.
along with the other roads
ot the state, has made a special
rate to the exposition to apply on
Tuesdays during the month of
April. Every Tuesday tickets
from Kingstree to Charleston,
good until the following Friday
will be sold at the exceedingly
low rate of $1.00 lor the round
trip.
