Snider Wednesday afterj. noon, when his eldest daughter, Miss Mary Sue, was led to the altar of Hymen by Mr. H. Eugene Montgomery. At half past four o'clock the bridal coaple, preceded their attendants, marched into the beautifnllydecorated parlor to the tuelodiou* strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March, exquisitely rendered by M'ss Maybelle Harper, ?.?it t-luftrir# T (4rp?b:im nic. tor of the baptist church, spoke the solemn words that united them in the holy bonds et wedlock, l'he service was short aud simple , but. full of teehng and very impressive. 'fbe bride was arrayed in a stylish traveling dress of old rose, wearing in her goldeu hair a pearl sosette. Snider, and Miss Jessie Beacharn, with Mr. Hey McClary. Miss Snider wore grey silk grenadine, with garnet aud pearl trimmings.. Miss McUlary,. a very becoming brown costume, blue silk aud pearl trimmings. Miss Montgomery, blue and white silk* with, silver trimmings. Miss Beacham, blue silk grenadine, with white satin, aud pearl trimmings. The parlor was ctecorated handsomely and in excellent taste with, sroilax., cedar and, rare exotics. The bride and groom stood beneath a handsomely decorated marriage bell of cedar and white chrysanthemums. Following the ceremony the happy coupJe were kept busy re-, reiving the congratulations of their iriends until the guests were invited into, the dining room where a sumptuous repasX was served. Gonzales, editor of The State, and Mi9* Loeie Barron, of Manning, were married yesterday morning at the home of the bride. Tho, wedding was very quiet and only near relations of the couple were invited. Mr. and Mrs. Gonzales came to Columbia on the morning Coast Line train and left the city iast evening for the North. Oliver Wilson, the owner of the "stolen" cattle, of which mention was made in my last letter,is now boarding at the county hotel. His cattle, reported stolen, hare all been found. The public school here, under the efficient management ol Mis* Sallie Wilson, has au excellent attendance. Miss Sal lie is an earnes', conscientious and painstaking teacher and her pupils seem to be making fine progress in their studies. The writer enjoyed a visit iu the Scran ton section last week. I understand that several families of this vicinity will go to Columbia iu the near I'uturo In take situations in the cotton factories of that city. Mr. T. S. Smith, while out hunting last week, came near losing his life by the accidental dis, cliarge of his gun. He attempted to light a cigarette and it is I thought that a spark from the match got in the powder, causing the discharge. ? The entire load struck the rim of his hat, missing bis head by a few inches. The cigarette was blown Irom his month. Fortunately he escaped unhurt. Mr*. Alex.
