was made in my last letter,is now

cattle, reported stolen, hare all

The public school here, under
the efficient management ol Mis*
Sallie Wilson, has au excellent
attendance. Miss Sal lie is an
earnes', conscientious and painstaking
teacher and her pupils
seem to be making fine progress
in their studies.
The writer enjoyed a visit iu
the Scran ton section last week.
I understand that several families
of this vicinity will go to Columbia

situations in the cotton factories
of that city.
Mr. T. S. Smith, while out hunting
last week, came near losing
his life by the accidental dis,
cliarge of his gun. He attempted
to light a cigarette and it is
I thought that a spark from the
match got in the powder, causing
the discharge. ? The entire load
struck the rim of his hat, missing
bis head by a few inches. The
cigarette was blown Irom his
month. Fortunately he escaped
unhurt.
Mr*. Alex. Cook, Bass' Bridge,
visited relatives here Sunday.
