Editar of Columbia Record Appointed , Collector of Internal Revenue. President Roosevelt announced last Monday the appointment of George It. Koester, of Columbia, to the position of collector of internal revenue for the district of South Carolina. Mr. Koetter is editor of the Columbia Record and is a closo follower of McLauria. Montgomery aid F. D. McLellan, ex-county treasurer and auditor, respectively, tor irregularities in the 6um ot $3,179.30. Mr. Montgomery, the ex-treasurer, is well known and has many lriends in this coauty who are loath to believe anything coaching his integrity. While here the comptroller general was not prepared to make a statement. ?m Loe Ceunty Wins. i The Lee county electiou. which was held Tuesday in the interested counties of Sumter, Darlington tad Kershtw, was quiet and all indications to-night show that the new couuty has won. Good majorities were polled. Sumter's vote was: 604 lor, 280 against; Darlington, 178 lor and 76 against. Kershaw county has not reported, but the general result will not be changed.
