Mr. J. F. Barron is back from Bock Hill, where he spent the holidays. He is still buying cotton for the Sloans. Mr. W. R. Edwards, of the firm of Wilson & Edwards, architects of Columbia, spent last Saturday in tho City. He was looking after plans and specifications for new dmildings. The contract for the now school building has been given to Mr. B. P. Turner, whe is expected to begin work in a few days. The building vv.-ilMia.ve three large rooms, cloak room, vestibule, hall and piazza. It will be situated at the northern end -of Jones street. I)r. A, H. William, who has been ill so long and so seriously, is, we are glad to say, now improving ranidlv and is on the high road to complete recovery unless by some unexpected misfortune relapse should happen. He was nolo to be out on the piazza one of the warm .days last week. Another drug firm is forming. Fitch, now of Caesar, Miss., has been out on a visit to Iriends and relatives at his old home, after an absence of two years. M r. Fitch is doing well at Caesar, Miss. He is a member of the lir.u of Fitch Carr. turpentine manufacturers and is a traveling salesman on a good.salary. His friends were glad to meet him again and to hear of Jus prosperity. We mentioned a short time ago that M:. J. H. Illaekwell had come hack home and would resume the liorse business. We wlHh to add now that he will have in within a very few days a lot of good, serviceable and reliable stock which he will dispose of at reasonable prices. A case of an assault with a deadly weapon, which was said to have been made on Christinas eve, came up before Magistrate Thompson in Florence county a few davs ago.
