We noticed in last week's Lake City Time* an article casting epithets at the edito; of Tiie County Kbcokd, and attacking this paper's utterances regarding the recent postoffice tragedy. It was our in_, tention to let the article pass as not worth the attention of a gen tleman, but the editor of the Lake City Times called to see us last Monday and told us that, while the article was his leading editorial, it was written at the dictation of someone else, and expressed public sentiment and not that of the . ^ editor; that he was a public servant, *nd as such published'the article at the instigation of another, jp/; ' ' 1 Mr (Hartr furlhprmnrp s liH flint hp had not seen anything in The County Record that would warineh an article, and he did not know what his dictator was refer ling to, bat. that he had been toid it was one of the articles we had reproduced from another paper, ,v aa oar editorials were directed m specific terms to to the members of the mob. Continuing, he said he knew Tee County Record was not ^entirely full of denunciations of be people of Lake City and vicin Jfcf V ity," as his editorial said, but he had published that "for effect." As a matter of fact, there was frothing at all published in The Coukty Record which attacked anyone save the murderers, and if occasion presented itself we will say again what we have already said about the assassination. The claim that we have 'de. no a need anyone who was not in the mob i^ utterly false, and was known to be by the author of the editorial in Lake City paper when ' the article was prepared.
