would correspond in size and archi-
tsctural beauty with the other im
posing buildings that were devoted
to other exhibits. In one respect, at
least, the Government build) ag was
superior to the others aud.that was
in the fine frescoes that decorated
the soaring dome that occupied the
centra] part of the roof. Of course
one of the most conspicuous displays
in the building is that connected
with the army, and the exhibit is of
special interest to those who have
the carnivorous animals such as pan
thers mountain lions and others of
the same general family. The fish
were represented by all the best va
rieties of the ones used for food, some
of them from Alaska and others
from as far south as Florida. All of
our native birds, from the eagle to
the smallest humming bird was rep
resented, and the exhibit was a mine
of information to anyone who ii fond
of natural history. Some skeletons
and casts of extinct animals added
very much to make the collection
complete. Like the proceeding ar
ticle which have appeared in our
columns, in reference to the great
Fair. This is merely an outline of
the numberless objects of interest
that were contained within this
building, which however does not|
represent the whole Government ex
hibit a great deal of which was dis-1
played in other buildings, and which |
will be noticed in a future article.
