Fortunately the Fair was held durhig the "hot spell," and the ladies in charge of the cake table, the ice erentn arbor, and the lemon ndc well <ii<I a driving business. The la lies having charge of the fancy table, and the (lower stand did well. Hut not being favored by the weather oottld not compete with their neigh bors. The dinner given Friday was suinptoiis and profitable. The net profits were almost two hundred dollars. A very interesting game <d" base ball was played between Our Roys of Howesville und the .Juniors of our town which resulted in a victory for Urungcluiig. Our Hoys played :i very creditable game indeed, und in ti short time, with perseverance, will bo hard to beat as batters and field ers. After the game was over our guests were conducted In the Fair building where a bounteous supper was spread and enjoyed to the utmost by the contestants, who seemed to In as much at home with knife and fork as with ball and bat. How pleasant to see young life thus enjoying itself, and developing every resource of brain and muscle for future use in ti different and more important sphoic of life.
