He vas feiipbted ard mrpristd, and affer his own recovery, which scon occurred, determined, if posable, to procure tho cole right to manufacture and sell it in the United States. The result of his labors was a glorious sueces* for himself and suffering humanity, for tho celebrated PLANTATION SITTZSS wa: thus made known to the world. PLAN TATION BITTE3S being an anioio of real merit, founded upon new principles, and relying wholly upon tho vegetable world for its medioinal effects, worked a rapid revolu tion in the history of medicine, and became as a household word all over the civilised world. The cabailstie S. T.—1860—Z. was a talismsn of health, and the demand for the PLANTATION EITTESS soon far exceeded the abilities of the proprietors to supply. Notwithstanding the large importation cf St. Croix Sun, made espressly for the com pounding of theso Sitters, the quantity -was inadoquato. It therefore became necessary that arrangements upon an extensive scale abroad should at once be made, and an agent was dispatched to St Thomas for that purpose. Ho was fortunate in securing and leasing several plantations on rose of tho largest and most productive estates on the island. Houses, stills and pressos were erected as if by magic, which utterly “ aston ished the natives.” The services of experienced men and natives of the island were pro cured, and very soon the proprietor: of tho PLANTATION LITTSSS were in a position to supply their laboratory with all the perfectly pure St. Croix Sum necdod in manufac turing the 03EAT DYSPEPTIC TONIC AND INVIC-OSATOS. The above cut represents the natives crashing ths sugar-cans and otherwise preparing it for tho stills and presses. As an antidote to Fever and Ague, Intermittent and Ualarious Fevers, Dyspepsia, and ethor kindred diseases, the uso cf ths PLANTATION EITTEES is unsurpassed la the history of the world. Over Eve million bottles are disposed of annnally. Thsy are adapted to old and young, male and female. They ars agreeable in taste, and always produce an immediate tonsficial result. h 3, 1869. 22 ly THE LIFE Extraordinary Career and Duu iy Exploits OF ALLAN PINKERTON, THE GREAT DETECTIVE OF THE AGE We have now in Preparation nn<l will Publish on the 27th of October, Infant, in No. 1201 of the NATIONAL POLICE GAZETTE, The life an»l exploits of Allan Pinkerton, tha moat able and successful Detective the world has ever known.
