Darlington at A Tobacco Ctnttr. [’*J. E. N." In the Newt and Conrier] For the pant few wetika ‘•thinga arounil town” have looked like old timea. Busineaa has not been dull among the merchants and in the tobacco department great activity has been seen. The Darlington To bacco warehouse and the Plant* er’s Tobacco warehouse have recently been finished, and both are large and well built. The former is 100 by 150 feet, and the latter is 100 by 125 feet, and they are well arranged for light, ventilation, storage and onioe capacity. Messrs. Sydnor & Treadway, our veteran tobacco warehouse men, will again hold forth at the Darlington warehouse, while Messrs. Hmoot & McGill will have charge of their new ware hou e, the Planter’s. Mr. John Coleman’s new fac tory has just been completed, and it is a large one. It is well situated, is three stories high, anu is 125 by 60 feet. The move still continues, and every effort is being made to offer complete facilities for tnak ing a strictly first class home market here. Work has been commenced on two other large factories, and it is being push ed with vim. Your correspondent can state with absolute accuracy, that in a few days work will be com menced on two other factories. There are reasons why nothing more can be said just now, but this is positive information and no rumor. The sale of tobacco flues, bas kets, machinery, lumber for barns and factories, und the various things necessary for starting out in tobacco culture, has filled a most important place in the season’s business here. These things, with the building of tobacco factories, warehouses and other similar changes, have kept up the business of Darling ton during the months that are usually very dull, and our busi ness men recognize this fact. So far the general tobacco average of the county is most satisfactory. The crops have all stood the seasons well, and as a rule the planters who made the experiment for the first time are more than pleased. Curing is progressing to the sat isfaction of all concerned, and inside information leads me to believe that the indications for a strong season are multiplying daily. Mr. E. E. McGill, one of the the Planters’ a go-ahead to bacco man. He selected some of his leaf tobacco, sent it to a North Carolina plug factory and had it manufactured. Experts, and tobacco experts are right here, pronounced the tobacco so manufactured to be a first class article, and it showed up well by tobacco here in stores that was sold at 75 cents per pound. The Discovery Seved Hit Lif. Mr. G. GaiUouette, Druggist, Beaversville, 111., says: “To Dr. King’s New Discovery I owe my life. Was taken with La Grippe and tried all the physicians for miles about, but of no avail and was given up and told I could not live. Having Dr. King's New Discovery in my store I sent for a bottle and began to t better, and after using three >ttles was up and about again. It is worth its weight in gold We won’t keep store or house with out it.” Get a free trial at Willcox & Co.’s Drug Store. It took six visits to a present ation of the danse du vantre by Turkish girls at Atlantic City, N. J., to convince the council- men of that town that the dance was improper. Several resi dents of the town protested to the council that the exhibition was immoral, and the mayor and council promptly went in a body to see it for themselves. Half the city fathers were un able to decide on the first visit, and they went to see it again on four succeeding evenings, and even then one councilman remained unconvinced and could not decide that the exhibition should be suppressed until he had seen it yet once more. The show was closed on the eve of the Fourth. So Simple- Nine out of ten whenwCare out of sorti our trou bles can be removed by that re liable old medicine.
