flattering comments were passed
upon their performance and they
left in Darlingtou a most enviable
impression.
Thanksgiving for the Orphans.
As our animal day of rejoicing
approaches, Christian people should
not forget the otphan-*. When the
people assemble on that day to
thank God, let them thank him

John Brown, colored, was arrest
ed at Dovewville. Monday night, on
the charge of wife murder. He is
now in the jail at this place. * As
the crime occurred in Marlboro

Council meets this afternoon and it
will then consider the questions

that the woik will be finally discon
tinued or that the well will be
speedily completed.
‘•The Wrens” Poorly Render
The Wren Comedy Company ap
peared here in the Opera House ou
Thursday uight last. As this com
pany came highly recommended it
was generally expected that a
good performance would be gWen.
But it was misplaced confidence
The entertainment was in three
parts; the first, “Sweethearts,” was
a pretty little dramatic concert in
two acts which could have been
well produced, but it was eu poorly
rendered that it had nothing to
commend it to the public. Oliver
W. Wren, as Sir H-ury Spread
brow, did passiuly w>ll, but his
support fell ftr below the average.
The second pa't of the performance
was decidedly the hoar. It consist
ed of recitations by Mr. aud Mrs.
Oliver W. Wren Again Mr. Wren
made the best impression upon the

erecting a commodious building to
