Board of Examiners, after mature
deliberation, awarded tbe first
grade teacher’s certificate to four

three and the third to eight. Fif
teen applicants were rejected, thir
ty persons in all having applied.

The Military Fair.
Thefair of theDailington Guards,
concerning which 'notice has al
ready been given in these columns,
will be held about the middle of No
vember. The auxilliary committees
cf ladies and gentlemen have been
appointed and are now co operating
with tbe committee from the com
pany in their efforts to furnish a
pleasant time for all. The fair will
be supplemented by such entertain
ments as will be attractive and
which will be hereafter announced
in The News. Everything to en
sure an enjovable occasion is being
done by those who have the mat
ter in charge.

by which it can be determined with
scientific accuracy just exactly how
Adam’s body was formed.
Theie is no room to doubt, how
ever, that Adam has a grt at many
descendants who have souls to be
saved.

body alone and direct their atten
tion to the consideration of Ques

fever. Mrs. McNeill had been here
but a short time w' on she was tak
en sick. Although slut wa* a strau
ger there were friends here who
were kind and patient aud did all
iu their power to make hi r last
hours on earth peaceful and hapity.

attended her during her illtioss,
and gave her the best medical as

—The Rev. W. A. Gnerry will
conduct divine services (Episcopal)
next Sunday night in the Castle
Hall of Harmony Lodge. It is iu
this hall that the Episcopalians
have been holding services tor
sometime. Mr. Gnerry is an elo
quent and forcible preacher, and is
an earnest worker in the Master’s
vineyard. He was bort in Claren*
don County and is the son of Rev.
LeGraude Gnerry. At tho age of
fifteen Mr. Gnerry enter'd Dr. Por
ter’s School in Charh'Ston and re
mained there four years; thence he
went to Sewanuee, and entered the
University of the Sonth, where ho
remained seven years, and gradu
ated with the degree of M. A. in
1884. In 1884-85 ho was an in
structor in Dr. Porter’s school. Re
turning to Sewaunee Mr. Guorry
entered St. Luke’s Theological Hall
and graduated from there iu theols
ogy during the present year. Dur
ing his theological coarse he was
assisteut Professor of Latin iu the
University. Mr. Gnerry was or
dained to the Diacouate by Rt. Rev.
W. B. W. Howe ou September 23.
