Hamilton, affords to those who are unable to educate themselves in the day, an opportunity of getting, amidst arduous duties, that all important necessity of life a good educa tion. Mr. H started; last week and his scholars are increasing in knowledge and numbers constantly; others also intend to eome as soon as they can arrange their business. Hours from 8 to 10 P. M. Terms as per day sehool. Odd Fellows. The 55th anniversary of the order of Odd Fellows in the United States will he celebrated by Edisto Lodge No. 33,1. O. O. F., on the 27th of this month, in the Elliott Hall. Mr. T. B. Boyd will deliver the oration on that occasion. This order is comparatively a new thing in Orange burg, being established here in December last, with only five members now it num bers over forty. The public are invited to attend at the celebration; Ushers will be in attendance to Heat the ladies, pre serve order &c. County Treasurers Office. We k-arn ihnt Judge Glover, whose bond was approved by the County Com missioners on Tuesday last, made yesteday a formal demand upon Ex-Treasurer Humbert that the office be turned over, to him, which the latter refused to do. The grounds given for said refusal, were, that the papers presented by the new Treasurer lacked the Seal of the State, nnd thnt a regular commisiou from tlic Secretary of State would have to be pre sented before the office could be turned ?vor. In the meantime, who is author ized to receive taxes? O- . " Charity Lodge No. 7, Orangeburg "Knights of Pythias, founded on naught but the greatest and sinccrest motives to alleviate the su Oerings of a Brother, sue cor the unfortunate, zealously va'ch at the bedside of the sick, sooth the dying pillow, perform the last sad riles at the grave of a Brother, offering consolation to the afflicted; and caring for the Widow and Orphan. Hfl ving these principles iu view, they will endeavor to exemplify them by practical tests; and if, by the grace of God, it shall successfully carry out this object, they will feel that their mission has not besn in vain." Mr. N. I. Tuckheim being the only member of the Order in this Town hns succeeded iu establishing the above named Lodge, at a meeting held on Tuesday the 31st of March 1874. Mr. Tuckheim was called to take the chair, called the meet ing to order, and stated that the object of the meeting was to organize and elect officers, that its business and operations was of a sc cret character having for its ultimate object Friendship, Benevolence and Charit}.
