We hope this cold weather extends to Memphis, where it if so sorely needed to check the ravages of thd yellow fever. Stair A ride into the neighborhood of Knott's mill gave us uu oppt it unity of examining the crops. The fields were in a beautiful blow of cotton, and the im provements by the. use of fertilizers nnd belter culture, showed a decidedly on cournging prospect. The farm hands were in good spirits, and but one thing' affected the otherwise cheerful picture, the low prices of cotton. Cool Change. Overcoats out-doors, and brisk fires in doors, were quite acceptable on Monday. The Orangeburg Base Ball Club Meets this evening as will seen by their ndvertieruent. Oh ango of Schedule. The passenger train for Charleston will leave the depot hereafter at n:30, A. M., and for Columbia at 1.50, P. M. Attention! Horses and Mules. Tho Ordinance respecting hor.ses and mules running at large will be strictly enforced after the first of November. Cotton Hill. The citizens of Bull Swamp are to hold a mass meeting with the view of erecting a factory. It is claimed that a sufficiency of water-power is available. Annual Fair Ball. The young men of our Town expect to give a Ball, on Thursday evening, during Fuir Week, at the Elliott Hall. Tickets can be procured at Mr. Robin son book store, or from Messrs: Vobc & Izlar. Lunch. Mrs. Thos. W. Albcrgotti announces that she will furnish Lunch during Fair week, at her Bakery Store on -Russell Street We tried Mrs. Albegotti's eat ables during last year's Fair, and can assure all of boing well and reasonably Borveo!. We earnestly hope tho Elliott Hall will bo packed on Wednesday Evening next, on the account of the annual ora tion before the Association, by Mr. Hu go G. Sheridan. Our people do not need to bo reminded that it is our sacred du ty, as well as privilege, to assist the ob jects of this Association, to the fullest extent. A Supper will bo given, after the ad dress, which will' doubtles add to the pleasure of this reunion cf the comrades in arms, and promote also the interest of the Association. Programme of Rifle Match To bo giveu at Orangeburg Fair Grounds October 30th, 1873 : Riflemen will assemble on Tourna ment track at 11 o'clock, when tho lino will be marched to the Shooting Ground, the distance and number of Shots will be determined by vote of tho riflemen. Riflemen can use any sort of Rifle they please but upon no consideration will Globe Sights be allowed. Judges will bo announced upon the day of the Shooting. Programme of Tournament to bo gi ven at Orangeburg Fair Grounds Octo ber 29th 1873: The Knight3 will assemblo at tho old Parade ground at 10 o' clock a. m. The line will be formed at 10 J o'clock head ed by a part of the Band of the Associa tion, will inarch through Russell Street to Rail Road avenue, thence to the Fair Grounds. The exercises will begin at half after 11 o'clock, and the names of the knights will be announced in the order in which they are in line.
