Dr. David Thomas, head of the department of sociology at Newberry, will deliver the tra ditional message to the gra duates at the 3:30 p.m. services in Wiles Chapel. Political Announcements mm •’gv’ m- .< isil m mm Newberry College’s two new alumni officers-Murray Davis of Spar tanburg and Dr. Dorothy Brandt of Clinton-met with other alumni leaders and College administrators recently for a weekend seminar at Camp Kinard near Leesville. Davis was elected president and Dr. Brandt, vice-president for a two-year term in a general election con ducted by the College’s Alumni Association. Clergymen are named Seven Newberry clergymen have been appointed assistant chaplains at Newberry College according to Dr. Fredric B. Ir vin, the College’s president. “We have asked these mini sters to feel free to visit the campus at any time,” Dr. Irvin said in making the announce ment, “to counsel with stu dents of their denominations and to assist in the College’s reli gious program.” Newberry pastors who are participating in the new pro gram include the Rev. Hugh Burlington, associate pastor, First Baptist Church; Father Fred Byrd, rector, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; the Rev. E. E. Gaulden, pastor of Macedo nia Baptist Church; Father Leon Hubacz, pastor, St. Mark’s Catholic Church; the Rev. Ro bert Stillwell, pastor, Lewis Me morial United Methodist Church the Rev. Neil Truesdell, pastor, Aveleigh Presbyterian Church; and Frank C. Wise, vicar, Re deemer Lutheran Church. The clergymen will work with the Rev.
