In this Book, John 3:16, we read, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” and in John 14:1-3, we read, “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” “Beaufort M. Scurry believed in God’s Word and according to God’s Word, he is alive to day and he will occupy one of God’s mansions throughout all e'ernity. [aster seals response good Sunday, April 2nd concludes the 1972 Easter Seal Campaign. In a recent report it was noted that the good people of New berry County has been respond ing quite well, but to continue its record of “over the top” for the past ten years, contributions will have to step up this week. Newberry County was fifth highest in the state last year in the contributions received from the sale of B.A.C. buttons by the local law enforcement officers under the direction of Chief Ray Schumpert. A total of 3500 buttons were sold. In the mailing division on the Easter Seals mailed out se veral weeks ago under the chairmanship of Col. Jim Hol combe and headed by Mrs. Sally French and here committee a total of $1,350.00 had been re ceived as of Saturday, March 18th. Individuals are asked to send in their contributions in the envelope mailed in their Easter Seal letter. Last week’s contributions had not been to taled at presstime. Phil Kelly, local chairman, said “that due to the steady growth in numbers of crippled children and adults, the local chapter has stepped up its re habilitation services. “Despite medical and scientific ad vances,” Kelly explained “the ranks of the crippled are grow ing. This is becaue of popula tion growth, increased num bers of accidents and medical treatment which saves victims of crippling diseases who might have died in past years.” Newberry citizens who have always responded in the past are asked to be sure and send in their contributions this week. J. Dudley French, 1227 Walnut Street, Newberry, is the local treasurer. Scientists to hear lecture What right does an individual have to be himself and to be free?
