News Service) Parties honor Miss Williams On Wednesday, June 9, at 1:15 P.M. at the Mid-Carolina Club, Prosperity, Miss Mary Williams, bride-elect of July 18, was honored with a luncheon given by Mrs. George Martin and Mrs. L. Parker Martin. Miss Williams, upon arrival, was presented a white carna tion corsage. The bride-elect’s table was centered with a lovely arrangement of snapdragons, queen anne's lace, and fever few. A three course luncheon was served the twelve guests. The hostesses presented Miss Williams a silver butter dish. Mrs. Willie Hawkins, Mrs. Douglas Venable, Mrs. Shealy Setzler, and • Mrs. Donald Hill entertained Miss Mary Williams at the Newberry Inn on June 12. 12:30 P.M., with a three course luncheon. The table was centered with a lovely flower arrangement of carnations, fever few, larkspur, and queen anne’s lace. A nose gay marked the bride’s chair. Sixteen guests enjoyed the oc casion. The hostesses presented Miss Williams with a vegetable bowl in her chosen dinnerware pat tern. Out of town guests were Mrs. John S. Glover, mother of groom-elect, and Mrs. Richard Greenman of Athens, Georgia. Mrs. Dorothy J. Carter honor ed Miss Mary Williams on June 17 at the Mid-Carolina Club with a three course luncheon. The bride-elect’s chair was marked with a corsage and the table was centered with an ar rangement of beautiful lilies, snapdragons, and daisies. Fif teen were present for the lovely affair. The hostess presented the bride-elect with a cup and saucer in her dinnerware pat tern. Miss Williams was honored on June 23 at 1:00 P.M. at a luncheon given by Mrs. Grady Carter, Mrs. Ned Carlisle, Miss Jan Cromer, and Mrs. Harry Cromer at the home of Mrs. Cromer. The bride-elect’s place was marked with a music box that played the wedding march. This was a very lovely and unique gift from the hostesses. The table in the Cromer home was centered with a beautiful arrangement of mixed summer flowers and each place was marked with a wedding bell place card. Upon arrival, the guests were invited to the sun-porch and juice served. Fourteen guests enjoyed the three course lunch eon. Bright announced today. Sales for the second quarter were $62,330,000, up 17 per cent from $53,299,000 recorded last year as earnings kept pace with a 17 per cent increase to $2,227,000, equal to 34 cents per share from $1,903,000 or 29 cents per share recorded for the similar period of 1970. Kendall moved sales up for the first half of 1971 by 11.7 per cent to $120,450,000 as earn ings increased 4 per cent to $4,164,000. • Although earnings rose in line with sales in the second quarter, profit margins were depressed. Bazzie Davis ies at Ward Bazzie Davis, 72, of Rt. 1, W a r d died Wednesday in Greenville. Born in Saluda County, son of the late Allen and Luvenia Maroney Davis, he was a retir ed farmer. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Eula Rae Lowman of At lanta, Ga., Mrs. Virgie Lee Scott of Jonesboro, Ga., Mrs. Patsy Longshore of Newberry, Mrs. Avis Cockrell of Saluda, Mrs. Yvonne Rodgers and Mrs. Darlene Easier of Ward; five sons, Earl Davis of Newberry, Waymon, Ronnie and Roland Davis of Ward, and Audrey Da vis of Atlanta, Ga.; and three sisters, Mrs. Zora Rodgers of Ward, Mrs. Mamie Warren of Ware Shoals and Mrs. Eliza beth Turner of Edgefield. Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Friday at Richland Spring Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Harry Dominick service Sunday Harry Eugene Dominick, 48, of Cayce, died Friday in the VA hospital in Augusta, Ga., after a short illness. Mr. Dominick, a Newberry County native, was a son of Mrs. Nellie Folk Dominick of Cayce and the late Ethod L. Dominick. He was an auto me chanic and a member of the Mount Tabor Lutheran Church. Surviving are his mother; his widow, Mrs. Azilee William son Dominick; and a brother, Duane Dominick of Cayce. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Ta bor Lutheran Church. Burial was in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. H. L. Leitzsey dies in Columbia Horace L. Leitzsey, 70, of Rock Hill, died Tuesday in a Columbia Hospital. Mr. Leitzsey was born in Newberry County, a son of the late C. L. and Cora Lee Suber Leitzsey. He had lived in Rock Hill for the past 40 years. He was employed by the York County Maintenance Dept. He was a member of the Ameri can Saddlehorse Association and the Rock Hill Saddlehorse As sociation. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Reba Kelsey Leitzsey; a son, C. Fred Leitzsey of Rock Hill; and a brother, John B. Leitzsey of Tirzah. Funeral services were held Thursday at 4 p.m. in Rock Hill. Burial was in Rosemont Ceme tery in Newberry at 6 p.m. Arthur Bowers i ■« i Arthur Eugene Bowers, 50, died Monday. Born in Saluda County, son of Mrs. Alma Rikard Bowers Coleman and. the late Jacob Bowers, he lived in Irmo several years, was a veteran of World War II a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran church and a paint contractor. Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Effie Gray Bowers of Irmo; a daughter, Mrs. Reba Bouknight of Newberry; six stepchildren; three brothers, T. L. Bowers of Newberry, Sterling and Norman <^Biir Bowers of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Hawkins of Laurens and Mrs. Zonola McClain of Newberry; and two grandsons. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. Burial followed in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Colie S. Metis died Wednesday Colie Seber Metts, 64, of Rt. 1, Little Mountain, died Wed nesday morning at his home after several months’ illness. Born in Little Mountain, he was a son of the late Henry Walter and Mary Long Metts. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Jua nita Watts Metts; two sons, Co lie Merle Metts of Conway and Larry Watts Metts of Chapin; two daughters, Mrs. James Ful mer of Prosperity and Miss De borah Metts of West Columbia and Little Mountain; two sis ters, Miss Ethel Metts and Mrs. Elton Lindler, both of Little Mountain; two brothers, El mer Metts and Ernest Metts, both of Little Mountain, also four grandchildren. Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Thursday from Mt. Ta bor Lutheran Church with Rev. James Taylor conducting the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Harlie Anne Hunter, daugh ter of Capt. and Mrs. Harold H. Hunter Jr. of K. I. Sawyer AFB, Mich., celebrated her se cond birthday, May 2.
