(Tom) Hayes dies Saturday John Thomas (Tom) Hayes, 74, of 1230 Crenshaw Street, died early Saturday morning at the Columbia Hospital after a sudden illness. Mr. Hayes was bom in New berry County, the son of the late E. Lee and Ida Buzhardt Hayes. He was employed by Murray Lumber Company and was a former representative with the Woodmen of the World. He was a member of the Lu theran Church of the Redeem er, Woodmen of the World and a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Azilee Sease Hayes; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Hayes Culbertson of Newberry; one brother, Fred L. Hayes of New berry; three sisters, Mrs. A. E. Bedenbaugh, Mrs. John Nance, both of Newberry, and Mrs. Charles E. Cheatham of Greenville; two grandchildren, Miss Virginia Culbertson of Newberry and Rusty Culbertson of Beaufort. Funeral services were con ducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by Dr. Henry A. McCullough. Inter ment was in Rosemont Ceme tery. Mrs. Johnson rites Wednesday Mrs. Eunice Brehmer John son of Rt. 1, Kinards, Belfast community, widow of James Edward Johnson, died Monday. A native of Newberry Coun ty, daughter of the late Har mon Ernest and Gussie May Brehmer, she lived in Laurens County most of her life and was a member of Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Boyd, of Garden Grove, Calif.; three sons, R. Eugene Johnson of Laurens and J. Earl and George Randolph Johnson of Kinards; a brother, Joe W. Brehmer of Ninety Six; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Chappells of Newberry; seven grandchil dren; and four great-grandchil dren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. by Rev. James B. Bankhead Jr. at Little River Dominick Presby terian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Frank P. Boozer died Wednesday Frank P. Boozer, 76, of Rt. 2, Prosperity, died early Wed nesday morning at his home. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Pierce F. and Ella Nicholson Boozer. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving are four brothers, Arthur P. Boozer, J. Edwin Boozer, Everette W. Boozer all of Prosperity, and Bernard N. Boozer of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. D. A. Be denbaugh, Mrs. J. L. Hendrix both of Prosperity, and Mrs. R. H. Grant of Greenville. Al so a number of nieces and nep hews. Funeral services were held 4:30 p.m. Thursday from Mc- Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Wood and Rev. J. Hil ton Roof conducting the service. Burial was in St. Luke’s Lu theran Church cemetery near Prosperity. Newberry native dies in Ind. Word has just been received of the death of Mrs. Mildred Turner of Anderson, Ind., early Monday after an extended ill ness. A native of Newberry, Mrs. Turner is the former Mildred Davenport, daughter of Mrs. Laberta Long Davenport of Newberry and the late Walter A. Davenport. Survivors include an adopted son, Mike Turner of Anderson, Ind.; her mother; two brothers, John Davenport of Charleston and Henley Davenport of New berry; and an aunt, Mrs. C. C. Duncan Sr.; several nieces and nephews. Miss James dies in Anderson Miss Judy Elizabeth James, 19, of Westminister, died Sun day in Anderson. A native of Oconee County, daughter of Jessie and Janie Doris Moore James of Rt. 3, Westminister, she was a mem ber of Newberry Church of God. Surviving also are five bro thers, Roger Dale, Jerry, Ran dy, Danny and Jeff James of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry Rogers of Westminister and Mrs. Ralph Long of Ki nards; and her grandparents, Mrs. Lona Moore of Seneca and Mrs. Viola Cobb James of Westminister. Robert L Ruff buried Sunday Funeral services for Robert Lee Ruff, 60, of Saluda, who died Friday, were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. A native of Saluda, son of the late L. H. and Fannie Ox- ner Ruff, he was a retired tex tile employee and a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Fred Goff and Mrs. Dan Harmon of Saluda, Mrs. Lee Boozer and Mrs. E. W. Jones of Newbeny and Mrs. Burley Hunter of Prosperity; three brothers, Edgar Ruff of Mon roe, N.
