Smith, 70, died Monday The Rev. W. Glenn Smith, 78, died Monday. A native of Georgia, son of the late Charles Ransome and Jennet Sherril Smith, he was a retired Methodist minister after 32 years srvice in the South Carolina Conference and lived in Newberry for five and a half years. His first wife was the late Mrs. Emma Williams Smith. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bettie Durst Mitchell Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Clark of Greenwood, Mrs. An nie Ruth Callis of Saginaw, Mich., and Mrs. Jennett Plyler of Lancaster; a son, Chaplin Glenn Smith Jr. of Key West, Fla.; two stepsons, Ralph and Rayon Mitchell of Newberry; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif.; 11 grand children; and a great-grand child. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Main Street Methodist Church. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Louise Perry Murphy, 70, of Tulsa. Okie., a native of Newberry, died at a Tulsa hospital Tuesday night, April 20.
