The amended rates will be put into effect on our electrical billing beginning February 1, 1971. The Residential Electric Rates as printed on the back side of our billing cards will no longer ap ply. The rates as printed in the ordinance below will apply to all City of Newberry electri cal sales until such time as the Federal Power Commission might revise the rates charged the City of Newberry by Duke Power Company. Duke Power Com pany has raised the electrical rates charged to the City of Newberry, said change to be effective December 14, 1970. said change being raised appro- imately 20'"' (twenty per cent! BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Newberry. South Caro lina. in Council duly assembled that electrical rates charged by the City of Newberry, State of South Carolina shall be amend ed as follows: RESIDENTIAL ELECTRIC RATE AVAILABILITY Available for domestic use to all residential customers served from the City of Newberry al ternating current distribution system. Service under the Stan dard Residential Rate shall ap ply only to electric service in a single private dwelling and its appurtenances, the major use of which is for lighting and household appliances, for the personal comfort and conve nience of those residing there in. Where a portion of a resi dence is used regularly for the conduct of business, the elec tricity consumed in that por tion so used will be separately metered and billed under the Commercial-General Power Rate. If separate circuits are not provided by the customer, the entire premises shall be classified as non-residential and billed accordingly The Residen tial rate shall not apply to service to institutions such as clubs, fraternities, schools, chur ches, licensed rooming houses or the space in any residential building primarily devoted to use as an office or studio for professional or gainful purpose. PAYMENT All bills are due and payable at the office of the City of Newberry on or before the tenth day after billing date. Subject to discontinuance of service af ter that date and a reconnec tion fee of $5 00. Service under these classifi cations are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the City of Newberry. POWER FACTOR CORRECTION The customer shall maintain a minimum of 85^ P. F. Where the power factor of the custo mer’s installation falls below 85'", the kilowatt hours for bill ing purposes will be increased by multiplying the KW hrs., used, as shown by the meter readings, by .85 and dividing by the power factor as deter mined by test at maximum load during the month. Tne minimum bill for custo mers with 10 KW or less of Demand shall be $1.80 per month. The minimum monthly bill shall be increased $1.50 per contracted KW for that portion of demand which exceeds 10 KW.
