C., Thurs., Dec. 24, 1970 Baking a simple coffee cake can be a satisfying kitchen ex ercise, particularly when the result is as good as this Mince- Crumb Coffee Cake. Condensed mince meat added to the batter gives this unusual cake its spicy-fruit flavor. All other ingredi ents are the usual on-hand kitchen staples. Here is the recipe developed by the Borden Kitchen: 1% Mince-Crumb Coffee Cake (Makes nine S-inch squares) 2% % 1 % cups sifted all-purpose flour teaspoons baking powder teaspoon salt egg cup sugar % cup Danish Flavor P J Margarine softened % cup homogenized milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 (9-oz.) package None Such Condensed Mince Meat, chopped fine Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. In large-size elec tric mixer bowl, beat egg until frothy. Beat in sugar and mar garine at medium speed until well blended. Add milk and vanilla; beat until blended. At low speed gradually beat in flour; blend well. Fold in chopped mince meat. Turn into greased 9x9x2- inch baking pan. TOPPING: In small-size bowl, combine % cup sugar, Vi, cup flour, % cup softened butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon cinnamon, until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Bake in moderate (375°F.) oven 30 to 35 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. SENATOR ROBERT C. LAKE, JR. SENATOR JOHN D. He carried home a tree and trimmed it with candles to impress his children with the divine power that had so gloriously brightened the Nativity Eve. It is true that once a year, when viewing the trimmed and fragrant tree, we can return to the dreams and beliefs of child hood. A RICH, ABUNDANT TABLE IS A TRA DITION IN ITSELF. The First Christmas As we commemorate the birth of a Child, we find new meaning in a glorious gift bestowed on mankind 2,000 years ago. The supreme gift represented a miracle and was performed in a supernatural manner to reflect its eternal significance. The first Christmas Gift was a Redeemer who came to offer man a better life on earth — and eternal life beyond the veil. The long awaited Messiah came to the City of David as a mortal infant, to establish a new relationship between God and man. The Christmas Child which was greeted by the shepherds and later worshipped by the Magi has forever changed the course of history. With his birth came a new age, a new religion and a new concept of the value of a human life.
