In pausing to review the activities of the year now closing and to prepare for those of the year ahead, we feel that we owe you, the citizens of Newberry a very real debt of gratitude. As we strive to supply all our citizens with the best possible ser vices for their money, it is encouraging to have another fine year of loyalty and participation from the citizens of Newberry. Without your interest and concern our City could not continue to operate effectively. During this year, the Tricentennial of our State, it is appropriate that we should be es pecially proud and thankful for the accomplishments of our forefathers here in the City of New berry. We realize that without their keen awareness of, and preparedness for the things to come, our City would not be advanced to the prominent place that it now holds among cities of its size in our State and Nation. We feel that 1970 has given us a fresh start for a new decade of accomplishments. We pledge to continue our goal of providing for a Newberry which will be unequaled in its quality of public service; and we seek your continued cooperation and good will in helping us to attain our goal. May the coming holidays bring to you and yours good health, happiness, and a full share of those things which make this world a better place in which to live. You can count upon our 100 per cent cooperation to help make it so. C. A. Shealy, Jr., Mayor C. D. Coleman W. Preston McAlhany C. E. Kinard L. D. Gardner Claude W. Partain C. A.
