Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Perkins of Route 3, and husband of the former Miss Marie Caldwell of 524 Main St., is participating in a mercy mission to earthquake- torn Peru aboard the amphi bious assault carrier USS Guam. The Guam carried three high ly specialized Navy surgical teams, a large quantity of em ergency supplies and 16 Mar ine Corps helicopters to the stricken nation. The “choppers” are transpor ting food and medical supplies into devastated areas from the port city of Chimbote, 240 miles north of Lima. Hundreds of disaster victims are being flown to the carrier for medical care. Other medi cal teams consisting of Peru vians, Americans, Brazilians, Argentinians and Canadians are being airlifted by the Marine helicopters. Peace Corps volun teers are also assisting in the operation. PARR COW IN HALL OF FAME Milestones Sparkling Star Bright, a registered Jersey cow owned by W. W. Parr, Jr., a junior member of 'Hie Ameri can Jersey Cattle Club, has re ceived her second consecutive Hall of Fame award. Hall of Fame certificates are issued to Jersey cows producing a mini mum of 20,000 lbs. milk and-or 1,000 lbs. fat in a single lacta tion of 365 days or less. Young Parr’s cow produced 18,420 lbs. milk and 1,019 lbs. fat in 365 days in a lactation start ed at seven years. She was milked twice a day. For the past four years she has placed among the top five in the Nat ional Jersey Youth Production Contest for her young owner. The high producer is also a showring winner, including the grand champion award at both the open and junior shows at the 1965 South Carolina State Fair.
