thought, some 10,000 Christian
Scientists attending the denom
ination’s Annual Meeting were
told last week.
“The present state of our
world. . .is really but the evi
dence of the present state of
human thinking,” The Christ
ian Science Board of Directors
said in its annual message read
by its Chairman, Clayton Bion
Craig.
“Mankind’s greatest need,”
the Directors said, “always is
for the spiritual enlightenment
of human thinking.” They em
phasized that there are no mere
ly material solutions to today’s
urgent problems and urged that
mankind “individually reach
out to the guiding intelligence
of man and the universe to find
the remedy for all our national
and international crises.”
The Directors’ message called
upon Christian Scientists to
bring the spirit and practice
of true Christianity to bear upon
local and world conditions.
“All the police forces in the
world aren’t enough to stop the
lawlessness and violence bent
on destroying our society and
institutions,” the Directors said.
“There are no federal, state or
local agencies that can heal rac
ial strife. All the money and
food in the world isn’t sufficient
to permanently eliminate pov
erty. Pollution will never dis
appear until the mental atti
tudes which cause it change.
“With all these situations we
enow we’re dealing with states
of human consciousness, rather
than material conditions.”
The message went on to say,
“So, if we would change the
external conditions. . .we must
begin with the transformation
of human thought”

JUNE IS A MOST FITTING MONTH in which
to raise a Salute to the Dairy Industry in New
berry County!
JUNE IS WHEN SUMMER COMES, when the
Dairy Industry
cool goodness of milk, the wonderful convenience
of DAIRY PRODUCTS, provide more dramat
ically than any other time during the year just
what the housewife needs to furnish her family
with easily prepared, appetite stimulating meals
and vitalizing refreshment.
THERE IS YET MORE REASON for Saluting the Dairy
Industry. Dairying comprises the greatest part of our agri
cultural activity. Progressive attitudes of Dairymen in
search of better farming methods and improvement of the
quality of their products also have made the Dairy Industry
an important part of our economy.
THE PARTNERSHIP that has grown up between Dairy
men and our Business Community, which provides them with
the modem machinery, the power, the services and supplies,
and the needs of their families—all essential to their progress
—has contributed jobs and prosperity to our area.
This yeafr JUNE DAIRY MONTH is being observed under
the banner: “KEEP COOL WITH DAIRY FOODS—Summer's
Hottest Values.” Business joftis in proving this—this month!
Join us in a Toast to the Dairy Industry. Say:
“MAKE MINE MILK!”
