Ramage of Route 1, Kinards, has been awarded a $1,000 National Merit Schol arship as one of the finalists in the National Merit program for 1969. Ramage is a senior at Clin ton High School, where he is valedictorian of his class. He was named this year as STAR Student from his Congression al District. Ramage plans to attend col lege at Clemson University, and will major in physics. His activities at Clinton High include being a Furman Schol ar, photographer and advertis ing manager of the yearbook, treasurer of the Student Coun cil, vice president of the Chem- Bl-Phi Science Club and mem ber of the National Honor So ciety. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church. No Newberry students were listed among the first Merit scholarship winners, but offi cials said that there will be a few additional winners named at a later time. Marriages Danny Reginald Pearson of Clinton and Adeline Waters of Spartanburg were married in Newberry on April 18. Charles K. Baker and Judy Davenport of this city were married here April 19. Billy Wayne Kennerly and Ann G.
