Mrs. Suber dies in Columbia Mrs. Arie Stone Suber, 80, of Newberry, widow of John A. Suber, died Sunday in Colum bia. She was bom in Newberry county, daughter of the late James and Margaret Stone, and was a saleslady in Newberry and Greenwood for many years. She was a member of the New berry ARP Church. Surviving are three grand children. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. E. L. Bland. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. Excavation is underway for the addition to the County Education building on Martin street. Additional office space and meeting rooms will be added. (Sunphoto by Martin Armfield.) Wallace dies in N. C. Ralph Wallace, 62, of Camer on, N. C., died March 24 after a lengthy illness. A native of Newberry, he was the son of the late W. H. and Betty Cleland Wallace. After graduating from New berry College in 1927, Mr. Wal lace coached and taught in the schools of North Carolina until World War II. He then served in the U. S. Army as Captain of his company. After the war, he served as superintendent of Heavy Duty Maintenance Department at Fort Bragg, N. C. Survivors include his wife, the former Floy Mae Thomas of Cameron; one son, Thomas Wallace of Grifton, N. C. and one daughter. Miss Judy Wal lace of the home; one grand son; two brothers, C. C. Wal lace of Newberry, Lewis Wal lace of Sumter, two sisters, Mrs. S. P. Harris and Mrs. John L. Epps of Newberry. Funeral services were held in Cameron last Wednesday. was a member of St. Phillips Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Livingston Wicker; four sons, Ben Wicker of Prosper ity, Harold 0. and Cecil E. Wicker of Newberry and Rob ert L. Wicker of Columbia, four daughters, Mrs. Elmore L. Metze of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Ray Gilliam and Mrs. Clifton Shealy of Newberry. Funeral services were held Wednesday from his church conducted by Rev. Grady L. Cooper and Rev. Joe Alley. Burial was in the church cem etery. Pallbearers were his grand sons. Rites held for Miss Boozer Miss Esther Maude Boozer, 73, of Greenville, died at a Greenville hospital Thursday of last week. Born in Prosperity she was a daughter of the late Pierce F and Ella Nicholson Boozer. She lived in Columbia before moving to Greenville in 1917. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. R. H. Grant of Greenville and Mrs. J. L. Hendrix and Mrs. J W Bedenbaugh of Pros perity; and five brothers, all of Prosperity: Frank P, Arthur P., Edwin P., Bernard N. and Everett W. Boozer. Funeral services were held at Greenville Saturday. Mrs. Boozer’s father dies John Kirkland, 73, of Rt. 5, Saluda, died in the Newberry hospital Friday. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Jesse and Salley Jennings Kirkland. Among his survivors is a daughter Mrs. Nellie Ruth Boozer of Prosperity. Funeral services were held on Sunday in Red Bank Baptist Church. Rites held or county native Clyde H Hayes, 73, died Sun day in Providence Hospital. Mr. Hayes was born in New berry County, son of the late Willie and Fannie Neal Hayes. Benj. T. Wicker died Tuesday at local hospital Benjamin Tillman Wicker, 77, of Rt. 2, Newberry, died Tuesday morning at a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of this county, a son of the late Melvin and Louise Lomi- nick Wicker. Mrs. Stockman rites Thursday Mrs. Cora Boozer Stockman, 90, widow of the late J. Burr Stockman, died Tuesday of last week at the Newberry County Memorial hospital. She was bom born in this county, a daughter of the late Frank and Lucinda Rikard Boozer. She was a mem ber of Wightman Methodist Church. Surviving are a son J. Walt er Stockman, of Lone Star; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth S. Pugh of Prosperity; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services were held Thursday from her church with Rev. Raymond Brock, Rev. Evans Boozer, and Dr. Fred E. Dufford conducting. Burial was in Prosperity Cemetery. Shealy, Boys Farm, two room storage-work- shop, $3,000. Marriages James H. Reid and Hazel Elders of Whitmire were mar ried there on March 24. Danny Cordell Gilliam and Carol Lynn Tankersley, Whit mire, were married in Whit mire on March 15.
