Singleton, 3124 Glenn street, received the Air Medal at Camp Eagle, Vietnam February 21. Spec. Singleton won the aw ard for combat aerial support of ground operations in Viet nam. Mrs. Wicker, 61, service Monday Mrs. Daisy Livingston Wick er, 61, widow of the late Colie Wicker, died Sunday morning at Newberry County Memorial hospital. Mrs. Wicker was bom and reared in the Pomaria section of the county, daughter of the late Malcolm and Collie Rich ardson Livingston. She had spent most of her life in the Jolly Street section and was a member of St. Paul’s Luther an church. Surviving are four step-sons, Eugene Wicker, Little Moun tain, Aaron Wicker, Hural Wic ker and J. P. Wicker, all of Newberry; three step-daught ers, Mrs. William Lathrop, Po maria; Mrs. Dudley Griffin, Newberry; Mrs. Carl Bowers, Little Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. O. C. Wicker, Mrs. W. P. Eargle, Mrs. Lillian Richard son, all of Newberry; one bro ther, Willie Livingston, Pom aria. Funeral services were held Monday from her church with Rev. Harold Fuller conducting the service. She was bom in Chapin, a daughter of the late Don Shell and Laura Shealy Comalander. She was a member of Mount Horeb Lutheran church, Cha pin. Surviving also are a brother, Shell Comalander of Chicago. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Whitaker Fun eral Home by the Rev. Ernest Dasher, Rev. J. Anderson Bass and Rev. H. A. McCullough. Band concert at College The Newberry College Band will present its spring concert next Sunday (March 30) in Wiles Chapel at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The band, under the direction of Prof. Charles P. Pruitt, is on tour this week. The concert ensemble and the College “N” Orchestra are playing a series of public concerts and high school aseembly programs in Florence, Pageland, Fort Mill, Clover and York. Bank merger is approved The proposed merger between Carolina Bank & Trust of Char leston and the state-wide State Bank & Trust Company was formally approved Tuesday by a unanimous vote of directors of both banks. Terms of the merger include an exchange of 1.2 shares of State Bank stock for each share of Carolina stock. Two Carolina board members will be named to the State Bank general board of direc tors, and the remaining Caro lina bank directors will make up the Charleston board. The merger, when approved by stockholders of both banks and the various state and fed eral agencies, would bring State Bank’s assets to about $200 million and its number of offices to 46.
