C., Thursday, June 13, 1963 Avelei^h Presbyterian chcreh v/as the scene of a lovely wed ding on June 8 at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon when Miss Nancy Deree Abrams became the bride of Larry Wesley Smith. The bride is the daughter of M rs. J. Warren Abrams and the late Mr. Abrams of New berry. Mr. Smith is the son of Mrs. Eugene Blair of Prosper ity and the late Mr. Paul Smith. Dr. Neil E. Truesdell, pastor of the bride, officiated at the double l ing ceremony in an ap propriate nuptial setting creat ed with palms, candelabra, and a sunburst of gladioli and mums. Mrs. Bill Hendricks, organist, and Mrs. Gerald Johnson, solo ist, presented the wedding music which consisted of “0 Perfect Love” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Traditional marches were used for the processional and recessional. The lovely bride, escorted and given in marriage by her un cle, Dr. Jasper W. Bryson of Bossier City, La., was exqui sitely attired in a formal wed ding gown of chantilly lace and sequins over bride’s satin with elbow-length sleeves. The full skirt was featured with a lace train accented by lace edging and sequins. Her shoulder- length veil of bridal illusion fell from loops of silk organza trimmed with pearlized 1 ilies of the valley. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid. Her only ornament was a pair of cultured pearl ear rings, gift of the bridegroom. She carried the lace handker chief which her mother carried at her wedding. Mrs. David W. Campbell of Columbia was her sister’s mat ron of honor. Her street-length dress with A-line skirt was of white lace owr pink organza which was enhanced by a sing le bow headpiece. She wore v/hite accessories and carried a cluster of pink carnations with an orchid in the center of the bouquet. Miss Nellie Ruth Kellett of Owings, cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid. Her attire was identical to that of the matron of honor, and she car ried a cluster of pink carna tions. Miss Mary Abrams of New berry and Miss Elizabeth Watts of Tennessee, cousin of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. They were similarly attired to the other attendants and car ried bouquets of pink carna tions. Mr. Eugene Blair was his step-sons best man. The ush ers were David Campbell, Roy Wise and A1 Potter, all of Columbia, and Bobby Beden- baugh, uncle of the groom, of Prosperity. Clark Abrams, cou sin of the bride, served as acol yte. The bride’s mother wore a pink dress with matching lace bodice. She wore white acces sories and a white orchid cor sage. The bridegroom’s mother wore a pale yellow dress wdth a lace jacket and bone accessories. She also wore a white orchid corsage. For a weddimr trio to Roa noke, Va., the bride wore a two-piece pink sheath dress with white accessories and the orchid lifted from her Bible. The bride has been employed at Thornwell High school, at Clinton. The bridegroom is a student at the Lutheran Theo logical Seminary in Columbia and is serving as student as sistant in Reformation Luther an church in Columbia. The couple will reside at 3112 Monticello Road, Colum bia. Pre-Nuptial Events Prior to her wedding to Lar ry Smith on June 8, Miss Deree Abrams was complimented on several occasions. On May 25, Miss Elizabeth Sease, Mrs. Burton Sease and Mrs. George Dominick enter tained with a bridal shower. The bride-to-be was presented a beautiful carnation corsage. Interesting contests were play ed. A pretty and delicious re freshment plate was served >yith punch. Many useful gifts were opened and the hostesses presented a vegetable bowl in the bride’s chosen pattern. On May 29, the Bush River Teachers and Mrs. Jo Ann Bishop entertained with a tea at the home of Mrs. Edith Walker. The honoree was pre sented a corsage of beautiful sweetheart roses. The lovely Walker home was beautifully decorated with arrangements of roses. Delicious refreshments were served. The hostesses presented a crystal cake plate and silver cake server to the bride-to-be. On June 1, Mrs. David Kel lett and Miss Nell Kellett enter tained with a luncheon at their home in Owings. Covers were laid for twenty, and a delicious meal was served. A lovely white carnation corsage was present ed to the honoree upon arrival. The hostesses gave Miss Ab rams a crystal salad set. After the rehearsal on June 7, Mrs. Warren Abrams, mo ther of the bride; Mrs. Gloria Parks and Miss Annie Abrams, aunts of the bride, entertained the wedding party at Mrs. Parks’ home. The lovely table of Mrs. C. I. Covering the two bridal tab les were lovely crocheted lace cloths made by Miss Beulah Bryson, aunt of the bride. Ar rangements of pink gladioli, shasta daisies, hydrangeas and magnolias decorated the living and dining rooms. Mrs. Elisha Abrams, aunt of the bride, served the cake, and Miss Elizabeth Sease, cousin of the bride, served punch. Bell-shaped wafers, ham bis cuits, olive rose buds, dainty sandwiches, cakes, nuts, and mints were served. Assisting with the serving and entertain ing were Mr. and Mrs. Alec Watts, Mrs. David Kellett, Mr. and Mrs. Carter Abrams, Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Bryson, and Dr. and Mrs. Lyman Williams. The couple presented gifts to the wedding attendants.
