SPRINGTIME
While .several cold snaps took
the toll of camellias in our fair
city, the weather evidently was
just right for the blooming
beauty of Spring. Each year I
am inclined to believe that
Newberry is even more beau
tiful than the year before. I
think this is true — when the
weather allows—because more
and more, the residents of our
city become azalea and dogwood
conscious. The flowers are
prettier in the older sections
of the city where the bushes
have grown to maturity. In the
newer residential areas, small
er plants are seen and these
will one year match the present
beauty of " old" Newberry.
It is a shame that such a
beautiful reason of the year
must be marred by the hypo
critical mouthings of self-seek
ing politicians.
