At a recent meeting of the Board of Directors of Green wood Concrete Co., Inc. Rich ard Addison of Newberry whs elected a vice president of the company. Mr. Addison has been with the company over 12 years and is in charge of the Newberry plant, Newberry Concrete Co. Under Mr. Addison’s guidance Newberry Concrete Co. has be come an important part of the industrial community of New berry and Newberry county. The company is a member of the Newbery County Develop ment Board. A native of Newberry, Mr. Addison is married to the for mer Miss Florence Shealy. The Addisons have two daughters, Mrs. Gary Bouknight and Miss Crystal Addison. NOTICE The Executive Committee of the Newberry-Saluda Commun ity Actions, Inc. will have its next meeting at 7:30 P. Academy book Fair success The Book Fair at The New berry Academy was a decided success. Many of the visitors purchased books for themselves or as Christmas Gifts to oth ers. A number gave their books to the school library. Among them was a complete new encyclopedia set. The Fair was sponsored by members of a special library committee, most of whom are mothers with children in the Academy. Much tedious work was involved in making the selections, transporting the books from Gittman’s in Col umbia, arranging the displays, taking orders and making de liveries. Joining in the display New College PR director New director of public re lations at Newberry College is Bayne Freeland, formerly dir ector of college relations at Yankton College, Yankton, S. D. A native of Illinois, Free land attended North Park Col lege in Chicago and was grad uated from Beloit College, Wis consin. He took graduate work in Journalism at Northwestern University and was a newspa perman in Iowa for several years prior to entering the public relations field with the Quaker Oats Company, Chica go, in 1948. He was Qauker’s public relations director for 10 years prior to his resignation to enter the college field early in 1966. He and his wife have four children. A daughter, Jill, is a freshman at Yankton Col lege and a son, Douglas, is an 8th grade student there. A son, George, is in military ser vice and a daughter, Bayneeta, is teaching at Yankton.
