WERE MISLED
Some persons were obviously
misled by a story in the pa-
pan. last week concerning mis
handling of county funds. Jusd.
to straighten the record, the
person involved was NOT an
elected official of Newberry
County. The lady involved was
a clerk hired by the county
delegation to work in the
Treasurer’s office. The word
“audit" seemed to indicate to
some that the auditor’s office
was involved. This was not the
case. The lady in question has
resigned and no one else in the
courthouse was involved.
FOOTBALL TIME
It’s been a long time since
I’ve been to a high school foot
ball game, but the one last
Friday night at Setzler Field
was well worth the time and
money. The Bulldogs of New
berry High, under their new
coach. Kimmell, not only de
flated the Lexington High
team, but played “heads up”
football the entire game. Then-
rector worked things out to
the satisfaction of almost every
line' and 1 ve h< a rd tew grumb
lings auout the situation.
Newberry Academy opened
Tuesday with about Ido stu
dents in kindergarten through
eighth grade and Hr kmard
:> predicting a highly success
ful year.
With the beautiful Labor Day
weekend owr, nios't folks are
settling down to a routine and
it is sort of relaxing, in a
