(Photo by Bill Armfield) CITY COUNCIL Continued from page 1 cil that residents in the area of Silas street are still plagued with rats. He said that the rats were coming from a hole in the sewer line in that vicin ity. Mr. Riebe recognized that this was a recurring problem. He said that the city had at tempted to remedy the situa tion by poison and otherwise, but it seemed that this had not been , fully effective. Shealy asked that the line be dug up in the area where the rats are coming to the surface and lo cate the break in the line and repair it. Manager Riebe said that there was no accurate way to determine where the break is, and he was not sure that dig ging at the place the rodents came up would be the place where the line was broken, but he would get a crew to the site and see what could be done. Councilman Cecil Kinard told his associates he had several complaints from business peo ple who got their utility bills at different times. He asked if it would be possible for these people to get their business and personal bills at the same time. Manager Riebe stated that this would be impossible under the present cycle" billing procedure. He said that in order to include both in one bill would mean that the city go back to send ing all bills in one period, or having meter readers skip from business to residences to get readings to consolidate the bills. He said this would defeat the purpose of the present sys tem, and added that additional personnel as well as bookkeep ing machines would have to be secured to revert to the former system. Councilman Shealy gave the invocation to open the meeting. Small Appliance Repairs Don’t throw away your small appliances. Try our repair service. JACK HALL Phone 276-4671 after 5:00 P.M.
