But when MY repre sentative finds it necessary to pay tribute to the LBJ family, at a time -when LBJ was (and st.iii is) doing his best to bull- wnip the South, then my suspi cions are aroused. Knowing the mood of his constituents as a politician should (the mood la ter being proved by the vote for Goldwater) one cannot help wondering why Dorn jumped on the Ladybird special. Aside from all that, John Grisso is a courageous fighter for right as has been proved in his home county of Anderson. He does not hesitate to attack “the ma chine” — his actions result from his convictions of what is right. He will be an able Con gressman. W. W. Wannamaker: Again, I will admit that Floyd Patter son is probably a capable per son to treasurer; but I did not and do not like his methods of using private organizations, supposedly non-partisan, t o j advance his candidacy. I shall write in the name of W. W. Wannamaker. I make only one comment concerning local races. On the county ticket, four offices are printed—Probate Judge, House of Representatives, and two Commissioners with no Repub lican opposition. However, J. Pink Hawkins has announced a write-in candidacy for the House of Representatives. The chairman of the Newber ry County Election Commission has stated that in order for the write-in vote to be counted, there must be a name other than “Hawkins”. The voter who wishes to cast his ballot for Mr. Hawkins will be requir ed to write either “J. P. Haw kins” or “Pink Hawkins”— something that will identify the candidate. “Pink” would prob ably be best, so the “J. P.” would not be confused with “J. F.”, our retiring Sen. Haw kins.
